This computer monitor shows rather slow responsiveness of the panel, though it's important for PC games only.

This is an excellent computer monitor for working with graphics and drawings, so it's suitable for designers. You can use this Dell individually or in combo with another PC monitor.

Dell UltraSharp IPS LCD

Picture Without Limits

A conventional computer monitor is just a peripheral for displaying the visual content to a user. But Dell UltraSharp is a lot more versatile than that. This monitor for PC is not just thin (6.05 mm) but also has tiny bezels. So, the picture you see looks bigger than it is in reality. Moreover, the image quality is fantastic! No matter whether you are watching a video or viewing photos - the image will always be detailed and with natural colours.

The secret is simple - a high-end AH-IPS panel. The advantages of this panel technology are obvious - the viewing angles are so wide that the picture doesn't deteriorate regardless of the place you look at the monitor from. The colours are accurate, rich, saturated, and bright, so this computer monitor from Dell is suitable for professionals who create and process graphics as well as for amateurs who just want to enjoy natural colours for watching films, browsing the web, or playing games.

If you wish some tech specs, here they are - the Dell computer monitor supports sRGB and Adobe RGB colour standards. As for the maximum resolution supported by this monitor for PC, it's 1920x1080 pixels or, in other words, Full HD. Therefore, you can play all modern PC games at the highest quality settings and watch Full HD films.

Review of Dell UltraSharp IPS LCD Monitor

Excellent Customisation and Connectivity

The Dell UltraSharp computer monitor is unique due to its amazing adjustability. Apart from tilting supported by multiple devices, this monitor for PC allows adjusting the height and even pivoting the screen (90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise). Therefore, you can adjust this monitor for PC for your maximum convenience.

Of course, this device from Dell offers all the necessary connectivity interfaces. However, we should mention that the device supports digital video outputs only. Dell engineers decided not to install an obsolete analogue D-sub port. Thus, you can connect this monitor for PC to a base unit or a laptop via DVI, HDMI or, which is a major advantage, Mini Display Port that allows connecting it to Apple computers. It's known that Apple devices are very popular with graphic designers who can use Dell U2414H as an auxiliary monitor.

This computer monitor has a convenient USB hub for connecting flash drives and other devices through this port. We would also like to note the availability of the MHL port that combines HDMI and microUSB and allows you to connect this monitor to mobile devices.

Samsung S27F350

Paper Thin

Samsung was always the company to introduce one of the more interesting displays and Samsung S27F350 would certainly fit that ambiguous description. What makes this model so interesting are a couple of specs and a number of different features that you wouldn't really expect to find in such an affordable product. For starters, the computer monitor is ridiculously thin. With 10 mm in depth, the model is about as slender as a ballpoint pen, making it about two times thinner than your average monitor. Add to that the horizontal patterning on the rear panel and you have yourself a stylish, contemporary finish that makes the model look quite sleek in comparison to other Samsung panels.

Though there are plenty of people who would find this monitor to be quite useful, none would be as pleased with the purchase as the owners of AMD graphics cards. Since the model supports AMD's FreeSync technology, those individuals who are equipped with an AMD GPU will be able to utilize the said technology to its full extent. To those who are unfamiliar with the way it works, FreeSync syncs the screen refresh rate with the image frame rate. Unlike VSync (vertical synchronisation), it doesn't lock your frame rate at 60 fps. So, just like the latter, FreeSync minimises stutter and ensures flawlessly smooth gameplay, but it doesn't hinder your performance by reducing the number of frames that you get to work with.

Review of Samsung S27F350 27" PLS HDMI LED Monitor

Good for Your Eyes

A smaller and less significant but still a nice feature that makes this computer monitor even more suitable for gamers is the so-called Game Mode. The mode instantly optimises screen colours and contrast for gaming, meaning that you will be able to experience every scene from your favourite title at its absolute best.

Of course, not everybody enjoys games, but most people still spend hours in front of their monitor screen whether they like it or not. Which is why the folk at Samsung have equipped this model with Saver Mode that reduces blue light emissions. By doing so, they have provided their product with the means to reduce eye fatigue, so you'll be able to work longer hours without overstraining one of the more important parts of your body. That and the Samsung’s Flicker Free technology that minimises distracting screen flicker make the model a much better choice than most other computer monitors in terms of the health concerns.

All in all, the Samsung S27F350 doesn't necessarily excel at any particular category but it offers a considerable number of the sort of features that you would be hard-pressed to find in any other budget screen. Being of the more versatile options, the model will fit a great variety of different customers.

LG 23MP68VQ

Colour Revision Algorithms

The people at LG advertise the 23MP68VQ model as a cinema screen monitor. And, honestly, we would say that's a bit of an exaggeration. Now, we're not saying that this is a bad monitor for multimedia purposes, not at all.

On the contrary, this is an LG IPS panel, and that means you're getting an outstanding colour reproduction, great viewing angles, and solid maximum brightness. The model presents an equally dynamic and rich image, with vibrant and accurate colours creating the most realistic and immersive picture.

It's just that we don't feel comfortable calling a 23-inch panel with a 1080p resolution a "cinema screen monitor". Of course, if you take into account the more-than-modest price that the company is asking for it, it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to call it that. But we would still refrain from giving a full HD panel in 2018 that kind of title.

But if you don't fixate on the whole "cinema screen monitor" idea, the display in question is an absolute steal for a variety of reasons. One reason in particular is the model's improved colour vision to colour weakness. By using colour revision algorithms, the model helps people with colour weakness, especially those who have difficulty distinguishing between certain ranges of colours. Thanks to this technology, the people in question will be able to view all of the important content.

Review of LG 23MP68VQ 23-Inch IPS Cinema Screen Monitor (1920x1080, VGA, DVI, HDMI)

Not a Bad Gaming Option Either

One thing that the people at LG surprisingly decided not to focus on is how good this computer monitor is for gaming purposes. Now, it won't really cut it for those hardcore gamers who want the absolute top specs, mostly because of the 60 Hz refresh rate and the relatively average 5 ms response time. But if you happen to be more of a casual gamer, the model has you more than covered.

That is especially the case for those who own an AMD graphics card. With the help of the FreeSync technology, you will be able to enjoy a particularly smooth gameplay, without the usual tearing and screen stuttering that often spoils the otherwise immersive experience.

It isn't a bad monitor for all of you FPS fans out there either. The so-called Black Stabiliser feature will give you far better visibility, especially in those dark areas of the map. It will give you a solid advantage over campers that plague the absolute majority of multiplayer first-person shooters.

Finally, we would be remiss not to mention the OnScreen Control software as it will let you easily modify your screen configuration without having to rely on the often inconvenient physical buttons that are built into the monitor.

To sum it all up, LG 23MP68VQ has enough to satisfy a variety of different customers. It is a decent gaming screen. It isn't a bad office monitor either. Thanks to the Flicker Safe and Reader modes, it doesn't take a huge toll on your eyes.

BenQ BL2480T

Ergonomically Sound

One thing we can say about BenQ is that they seldom fail to identify the needs of their customers and come up with a fitting solution.

Take BenQ BL2480T, for instance. They market it as a business monitor and, of course, it isn't because the monitor can't be used for anything else. On the contrary, the model in question delivers in a variety of aspects and is a pretty good overall screen no matter how you slice it.

No, it is because there are certain demands that an office/business monitor has to meet and we'd say that BenQ BL2480T does a pretty good job of that.

Office monitor has to be ergonomic above anything else, ergonomic enough to be comfortable and convenient for any user who spends 8 hours a day staring at it. And, with this screen, you shouldn't have any issues achieving that. You can adjust its pivot, height, tilt, stroke, and swivel, so you should be able to position the display where it fits you best.

Admittedly, you may have a hard time fixing the monitor to the stand, and we don't know if it is an issue with the monitor, stand, or both. But once you get that out of the way, it will be easy to make this screen fit your needs an preferences.

Another part that makes this model such an ergonomically sound option is the slick frameless design. The 6.63-mm wide edge-to-edge bezel allows you to have considerably more workspace at your disposal, so you won't have to rearrange everything on your desk in order to fit the monitor.

Review of BenQ BL2480T 24 Inch 1080p IPS Full HD Business Monitor, Ultra Slim Bezel

Less Detriment to Your Eyes

Having said all of that, this is still a computer monitor, so ergonomics alone would not have gotten it very far. But, like we've said earlier, it isn't like the model has nothing else to offer. One aspect of this screen that makes it equally suitable for a variety of applications is the Eye Care technology.

Under this umbrella term hides Brightness Intelligence, Low Blue Light, and Flicker-Free, the familiar to many arrange of technologies that minimise the harmful blue light, reduce flickering, and customise the amount of green and red displayed on the screen. All of these technologies help reduce the strain on your eyes and allow you to spend more time in front of your screen without as big of a detriment to your health.

Panel-wise, there isn't that much to discuss here. What you get is a pretty standard IPS 1080p full HD display, with the usual IPS quality of colour reproduction, great viewing angles, solid maximum brightness, and decent contrast.

In short, BenQ BL2480T is a great minimalistic display that offers both aesthetics and functionality. It isn't the most versatile computer monitor but it is definitely one of the best office/business screens in its price range. It will allow you to spend more time in front of a screen with less of a detriment to your eyes.

What Is a Computer Monitor?

A computer monitor is a hardware peripheral that displays images or videos produced by the computer's graphics card (also called GPU). Computer monitors differ by many parameters, so the choice of the right device may be quite tricky. To make it a tad easier for you, we have thoroughly scoured the consumer electronics market and picked five computer monitors that should be able to satisfy your needs and preferences. Some of these monitors will be great for gaming purposes. Some of the monitors are better suited for office applications. Certain monitors will prove a better choice for streaming multimedia content. And, of course, some models are more balanced than others, so you don't have to settle for some singular-purpose device if you don't want to. Everything from the monitor's specs to the size of the panel will help you determine their primary application and help you make the right choice.

It is typical of many monitors that their built-in speakers produce quite a mediocre sound and lack power. If it's the case, it won't hurt to purchase an additional set of speakers. And if your job or hobby involves a lot of typing, make sure to acquire an ergonomic keyboard.

What Features to Compare

Today, the majority of computer monitors have displays based on so-called liquid crystals, so they are really thin. Older LCD monitors have recently been replaced by the cutting-edge LED ones. There are several parameters you need to take into account when choosing a LED-backlit computer monitor.

Screen size

The first thing you should pick is the screen size which is measured in inches. No need to say, it's much more comfortable to watch films, play video games, render images, etc on a large display. However, large monitors require a more powerful graphics card and if your PC is rather outdated and get a brand-new 24-inch monitor - the whole system will not run well. Smaller PC displays are better in terms of price and they can be used with older hardware - in this case, you can choose an 18-inch or 19-inch computer monitor. For gamers and films fans, we recommend picking large 27-inch LED monitors.

Resolution

The next thing to pay attention to is the resolution of a monitor for PC - it is a total number of dots (or pixels) on the surface of the screen. The more of them an LED monitor has, the better image you will get. In all, you must choose the PC monitors that support the Full HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels) and higher. The advantage is obvious - you can open several windows and work with them without any inconveniences. For example, if your monitor for PC supports the resolution of 2560x1440p, you can open with 4 windows on your desktop. The most common types of resolution are 1366x768p, 1920x1080p, and 2560x1440p.

Image quality

Also, you should think of image quality a computer monitor provides. It depends on the panel type a screen has. There are 2 most widespread panel technologies: TN and IPS. A TN panel is the most affordable one and it is the best for using a computer at home or at work. However, if you are a professional user who needs to work with graphics, you had better choose a monitor that has an IPS or MVA panels. They provide a far better image quality than a TN technology - the image is bright and vivid. Also, the viewing angles of an IPS panel are far superior to a TN. For instance, a usual IPS has viewing angles of 178/178 degrees and the maximal brightness of 270 cd./sq. m.

Interfaces

Finally, consider all the interfaces every PC monitor offers; in other words, look at the ports and slots it has. There are several essential interfaces any decent computer monitor should have. A DVI slot is usually used to connect large monitors and it provides good and clear image quality. An HDMI serves to transfer a digital video and multi-channel audio signal. A VGA is the only analogue interface for PC monitors and the only disadvantage of this type of connection is a deterioration of picture quality if you connect a digital device. Also, a USB (video) connection is important - a PC monitor can display videos from an external drive through this connection. Summing up, DVI and HDMI are the most important connectivity options to be taken into account.
