Brother MFC-J5330DW

A3 Printing

The Brother MFC-J5330DW is a solid multifunctional device for small to medium businesses. With its huge 250-page capacity paper tray, rather fast printing/scanning speed, and the inclusion of the Automatic Document Feeder and fax facility, this all-in-one device is a strong performer on the market.

Despite being quite multitasking, the printer does its main job flawlessly. It boasts fairly high print resolution and quick printing speed. That is to say, the resolution makes 4,800 x 1,200 dpi, allowing for printing quite good images on photo paper. The scan resolution is a little lower at 2,400 x 1,200 dpi.

As for the printing speed, it equals 22 ppm in monochrome and 20 ppm in colour. The print quality is good overall. You'll find plain text documents sharp with smooth characters and free from smearing or running. The colourful prints also get fine with no smudging.

At first glance, the Brother MFC-J5330DW looks like typical MFP devices yet it has an ace up its sleeve. Surprisingly for its size, it houses great functionality and can handle even A3 paper sheets, though for printing only.

While the paper tray accommodates A4 sheets in a portrait orientation, it can be easily extended and filled with A3 paper sheets. The ability to load A3 sheets is a huge advantage for those individuals who need to print either full-colour A3 posters or A4 booklets.

However, the tradeoff for that is a bit bulky design. Measuring 12 x 20.9 x 15.7 inches, the printer takes quite a lot of desk space.

Review of Brother MFC-J5330DW All-in-One Wireless Printer

Extra Capabilities

Here, you won’t find an SD slot or NFC feature, but this MFP does offer Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity options in addition to standard USB ports. Wi-Fi enables you to pair your smartphone, tablet, or laptop with the printer and control it on-the-go.

Additionally, you can download different companion apps to print and scan wirelessly from any mobile device. The mobile connectivity features are almost limitless. You can benefit from Brother Connect app, Google Cloud Print, Brother iPrint&Scan app, Cortado Workplace, and more apps to scan and upload images to the most popular image websites or social media.

The initial set up of the Brother MFC-J5330DW is quite straightforward, as the handy touchscreen display walks you through each step. The said display is also quite easy in operation afterwards.

Long story short, this four-in-one MFP is a stellar choice for low-volume offices. It's well-featured and stands out from the competition with its ability to print large-format A3 documents, images, or posters.

Samsung M2026W

Perfeсt Office Assistant

If you're looking for a quick, heavy-duty model for printing large batches of paperwork on a daily basis, you should seriously consider the Samsung Xpress M2026W laser printer.

The folks behind Samsung clearly understand that the better the performance of an office printer, the faster the workflow. With that in mind, they have created the Xpress M2026W that even exceeds the basic demands for a printer to be.

To begin with, it's rather compact yet high-speed printer. Thanks to the One Touch Screen Print function and Ready Mode, it significantly reduces waiting time and makes your work more productive.

Being fitted with a 400 MHz processor and 64 MB memory, it's able to print up to 20 mono pages per minute. And despite this quick printing speed, all the printed images and texts get very detailed and sharp.

Moving on, we would like to point out that this model requires low operation cost and sparing consumption of materials. The SL-M2026W laser printer offers a much higher cartridge yield compared to average wireless inkjet printers. With the amount of toner enough for printing around 1,000 pages, the device makes it possible for you to perform cartridge refill and replacement much less frequently.

Review of Samsung M2026W Mono Laser Printer

Convenience of Printing

The high speed is complemented with a convenience of printing that is primarily conditioned by the availability of a special NFC tag on the printer, which enables printing from your mobile devices by simply placing them near the tag. Thus, to start printing, you will not need to establish specific connections with the printer and download any additional software.

The Samsung SL-M2026W office wireless printer is not only compatible with mobile devices but is fairly portable itself with its 215 x 331 x 178 mm dimensions. It won't take up too much space, making it a perfect option for your home office desk.

Probably, it's small dimensions and laser technology that have added to lower power consumption. While printing, it consumes 310 watts and only 30 watts in Ready mode.

With all the abovementioned advantages, we can state that this wireless printer model is splendid not only for small offices with a lack of space but also for bigger companies running which requires a lot of black and white document printing at a high speed.

Canon PIXMA TS5050

Slim And Sleek

Meet one of the latest printers in the Canon’s lineup - the PIXMA TS5050. It's a smart-looking, slim MFP that has quite a lot to bring to the table. It's a fantastic offering inside and out.

Although the PIXMA TS5050 boasts all-round performance, it's perfectly proportioned. The printer is now 40% smaller and much slimmer than previous models. Clean lines, curved edges, and tapering contours make it appear even smaller and look more sophisticated. And behind that attractive appearance, the printer houses big functionality.

The PIXMA TS5050 is a Wi-Fi compatible device that can print, scan and copy. It's fitted with a standard 100-sheet paper feed at the rear and an output tray at the front. However, take note that the device doesn't support automatic duplex printing. That's the cost for its ultra-slim design.

On the upside, the Canon uses the proprietary five-ink system with both a pigment-based black for bold text and a dye black for contrast in photos.

Being an inkjet model, the printer requires you to buy costly cartridge refills for the rest of its life. But the price for consumables is surely no worse than that of its rivals. Moreover, the five-ink system means that you can replace only a specific colour that has run out. A quite economical solution.

Review of Canon PIXMA TS5050 All-In-One Printer

Simple Interface

Built for creative home use, the printer has an SD card slot enabling you to print photos and docs right from your SD memory card. As an alternative, you can also use special Android or iOS apps from Canon to print directly from your gadgets. The printer supports the Canon Print app, Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, to name a few. And using PIXMA Cloud Link, you can easily print right from social sites and popular cloud-based services. With that, you can also upload scanned images to cloud services.

Though some users find the setup process a bit tricky, the PIXMA TS5050 is very simple in terms of operation. We dare say, it's much easier to use if compared to other MFPs and Canon’s previous models in particular. The company has swapped its confusing mix of numerous buttons for simple controls. Now, you get a colour 7.5-cm LCD display and a cursor key with one button in the centre allowing you to cycle through settings and confirm choices. The navigation couldn't be easier.

To round things up, the PIXMA TS5050 is a sleek-looking device that won't take much space on your tabletop but will bring great functionality. With decent scan/print speed and easy-to-use interface, it's a worthy purchase for home use.

Epson 235N588

Entry Level MFP

The Epson Expression XP-352 is a budget-friendly smart inkjet MFP that is absolutely fantastic for its costs. Actually, it offers a bit more than its retail price.

For starters, we would like to emphasise that this printer can be connected to your PC using a cable or cordlessly utilising Wi-Fi technology, albeit it's an entry-level MFP.

You have an option to download the proprietary Epson Email Print app for free and send files directly to your printer. Furthermore, if you install the Creative Print app on your smartphone, you'll get an opportunity to print photos directly from your Facebook account or other social media websites, create customised greeting cards, stationery, and so on and so forth.

Alternatively, you can insert an SD memory card into the special slot and print, copy, or scan even without using any additional gadgets. The 3.7-cm LCD screen with large control buttons will give you easy access to the printer’s primary functions, be it printing, copying or scanning.

The simple operation isn't the only strong selling point of this device. It outputs very crisp images and detailed documents, though the max printing speed reaches 8 ppm in monochrome and only 4 in colour. Probably, it won't stun you with the operating speed, but the quality of prints will.

Review of Epson 235N588 Wi-Fi Printer

Never Run Out of Ink

The prints get high-quality largely thanks to the superior Claria Photo HD inks used by this printer. The inks come in four colours including basic cyan, yellow, magenta, and black. What is notable, each of them can be replaced separately, sparing you of the need to purchase costly all-in-one cartridges. And if you'd like to save even more money on consumables, you can get extra-large (XL) cartridges. By purchasing XL inks, you'll print more but pay less. Importantly, with XL cartridge, you'll be able to replace colours individually as well.

Yet, the most prominent feature about the Epson Inks is that they'll never run low. Just subscribe to the Amazon Dash Replenishment program and this smart printer will automatically sense when it's running out of ink. On top of that, the new ink cartridge will be delivered straight to your door thanks to EasyMail packaging.

So, if you're looking for a hassle-free way to automatically replenish your inks, this printer ticks all the right boxes. Even though it's far from the fastest models on the market, it's good enough to deliver you high-quality prints and offer you the convenience of wireless printing. Ideal for light jobs.

Both cartridge and delivery costs will be already included in your monthly payment.

Review of HP ENVY 5010 All-in-One Wireless Printer

Upgraded

The ENVY 5010 is a new release by the brand. It has been redesigned a bit to become more compact, functional. and easier to use. Additionally, it's now a bit smarter compared to previous models. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi and ensures a steady connection and performance.

The MFP lets you make prints from social media and the cloud storage services, as well as print from a variety of smartphones, tablets, and even right from Wi-Fi-enabled cameras.

Like the majority of similar HP devices, this one is designed with a standard horizontal paper tray that can hold 80 sheets of paper only. That's the cost for a small profile.

With an extremely small footprint, this printer neatly fits on any standard home desk leaving plenty of room for computers, peripherals, stationery and other stuff.

Lastly, the ENVY 5010 has an upgraded touch screen panel that is very responsive and can provide quick access to all the basic functions. Instead of tapping an arrow, now you can swipe the setting to navigate the menu.

What Is a Wireless Printer?

Wireless printers are, in essence, ordinary printers furnished with wireless interfaces for establishing a cordless connection to various data sources. Wireless printers are equipped with such commonly used wireless interfaces as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabling their use as network devices, though the standard cable USB connection is available in most cases as a second option. The wireless connection is advantageous as it enables you to save space, place a printer at a long distance from your PC/notebook, and, which is important, can restrict access to the printer for security reasons. These devices have a wide range of applications regarding the environment: home, office, studio, laboratory, various educational establishments, etc.

Being similar to ordinary wired printers, wireless printers have different printing technologies implemented, thus they can be of inkjet or laser type. Wireless inkjet printers and wireless laser printers, in turn, fall into monochrome (black and white) and colour printers depending on their ability to print colour images.

Moreover, the advancement of modern technologies enabled tight integration of various devices and resulted in the creation of so-called multifunctional devices (MFD) or multifunctional printers (MFP). Such multifunctional devices comprise scanner and printer units in a single device. Thus, all-in-one wireless printers are capable of scanning and printing out any image requiring users to perform only a few clicks.

What Features to Compare

As the name states, the printers are intended, first of all, for printing, thus, we need to consider the printing capabilities as the most important feature. Type and versatility determine the technology of printing that a specific wireless printer uses-inkjet or laser, monochrome or colour printing. As a rule, laser wireless printers have a lower cost of operation due to lower cost of the toner in comparison with ink. Type and versatility specifications also provide information about the number of cartridges or imaging drums that are used by the specific wireless laser printer or inkjet. One should remember that modern devices are highly integrated, thus, a wireless printer can comprise a scanner and a fax. This feature determines the availability of integrated scanner in a printer device and its ability to perform scanning, printing and copying of text or images without connecting it to an external device such as PC, notebook or tablet PC.

The other thing to look for is Printer/scanner parameters. These parameters directly affect printer and scanner (in an all-in-one solution) performance, such as a printing/scanning resolution, a printing speed (usually measured in pages per minute) according to ISO or another standard. If a device has an integrated fax, its scanning resolution and memory capacity are included in Printer/scanner parameters.

The printing requires consumables, determined by the printing technology. Thus, colour printing requires ink or toners of different colours (usually, Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow for inkjet printers) while monochrome printing requires only one. In any case, a wireless printer consumes a toner or ink when printing, which brings us to the third important feature - Cartridge yield/Tray capacity. This parameter depends on the type of data being printed: a plain text page with standard borders and formatting settings results in about 5% of page surface filling with an ink/toner while tables and photos printing require up to 100% filling. That is why the Cartridge yield/Tray capacity is influenced not only by the type of cartridge used but also by the type of data sent to printing. Every wireless printer has an input paper tray, most of the printers also have an output tray.

Modern wifi printers are quite complex devices, thus, they offer many additional options. Such options or Extras that one should consider can be both of hardware and software types. On the hardware side, wireless printers can provide users with advanced capabilities in a standalone mode, Ethernet connection, support for printing from USB-flash or memory card, etc. On the software side, Extras offer any advanced functionality: proprietary image scanning/editing features, optical character recognition for the scanned images, data saving and transferring features, etc.
