The first impression you get from them is how light and comfortable they are.
They feel tough and well made. They feel tough and well made.
The build quality is excellent; more solid than the HD650 and they don't require quite as much power to drive them.
Comfort wise, i read they were described as having a soft sofa on your ears, that I can't disagree with they are very comfortable
These headphones are natural sounding with a very nice, accurate sound stage. Build quality is good also.

These are German engineering at its best - well made, with interchangeable parts (so if you wear something out, you simply replace the part, rather than the entire unit)
They are a tad heavy (the trade off for well made kit), and do take a little getting used to if you've only ever used lightweight/cheaper headphones
Comfort...wow..i love the enormous ?velour ear pads.. you can wear this hours on end without fatigue.
The first time you unpack them and see the no-nonsense look, the big-and-bad all-replaceable-parts look, you know you're not talking about poser-gear here.
The build quality is solid, the sound is amazing with a really punchy, strong bass and music, games and films sound amazing while using them.

The DT880 produces a crystal clear sound without any of those effects. The effects in other headphones must be deliberately introduced by the manufacturer and are not in the original recording.
What I note with the DT880 is that the sound is effortless under all conditions with enormous clarity over the whole frequency and volume range.
The soundstage, the quality, the overall sound itself is exceptional. Are they semi neutral - yes, Do they have more treble than bass - yes, but in reality that's how the music is supposed to sound.
With a good headphone amplifier and a good quality USB audio interface they are very transparent, can be painfully loud and do not emphasise or detract from any part of the sound.
They sound great and they're always comfortable.

Stand-alone use is very good, with plenty of detail showing across the range, a good place to start with audio kit if your budget won't stretch to additional kit as this will hold up well without an amp.
With good quality DAC and amp, well it truly comes into its own when paired with good additional equipment - lots of detail which I've never heard before becomes noticeable
I sometimes sleep with them on since it's so comfy. they should make a pillow out of the materials of their earpads. lol.
They're super meaty in the low end, they do have a tiny bit of compromise on the mids, but the treble is awesome and the sound stage is as accurate as on my Eclipses and let me tell you, that is 110% praise because those latter's are the standard.
Headphones themselves are of superior quality and produce beautiful crisp sound, with reverberating bass throughout the extremely-comfortable ear-cups.
