The thing that impresses me most is how smooth it sounds.What I mean is, there is no distortion when the volume is turned up. It is especially noticeable when using headphones.
Good solid design, if a bit old styling. But works so well and the sound is very good.
Usually bass drowns out singers a bit on headphones when volume is increased but there is none of that just beautiful music!
The sound quality on this Yamaha is nothing short of amazing. Hooked up to Rotel 965 bx cd and monitor audio bronze bx2 speakerst,It is smooth yet very detailed and weighty, with excellent depth.
It delivers a wonderfully natural balanced acoustic delight. It has power which is delivered smoothly, filling a room un-distorted sound.

Very detailed, tight and muscular sound with the addictively rich, Yamaha balance.
I listened to Roger Waters "Amused to Death" (standard version) as my test record. I'm SURE I could hear even more!! It sounds absolutely superb.
It's a quality product and represents quite amazing value. It sounds superb to my ears, and with a good remote control, I can now sit back even more comfortably.
The sound stage is well defined and imaging is very good for the low cost of this unit. Much better than my previous amp/speaker combo.
Fantastic amp. Pure direct function great. Very full and detailed sound.

I suppose it comes down to the seemingly bottomless well of power the yamaha seems to be able to bring to the table. It just does it. I am listening to the sound, not listening for areas of improvement.
Absolutely unbelievable sound quality and sound staging. Superb, even at high listening levels there is no distortion or clipping.
I pump mine through floor standing JBLs which are notoriously power hungry and this amp handles it with ease - paired with the optional bluetooth dongle for a really versatile system.
The phono stage is as good as any other amp I've owned, certainly for my MM cartridge, an MC cartridge wold require a step up amp.
This is a beast of a machine in size and weight so please ensure it will fit into your unit and support the weight. The build quality is excellent.

Loads more power that is controlled, balanced with a good stereo sound stage.
No useless circuits messing up your sound, no false claims about its power, just good, clear sound for a very good price.
Love the sound and look of this amp! Easy to connect, really powerful, never go past the halfway mark!
Very powerful amplifier, zero distortion, nice sound signature and loads of features, what else can you ask for?

O my God this anp Is the king of amps best sound is to be bi wired with a pair of speakers I now own a wonderful set of speakers
Nice selection of inputs, I could have done with one more, but thats just me. I have five items running into it.
this amp has all the imputs I desire, although I did have to purchase a Yamaha Bluetooth adapter to stream from my phone.
I needed a good quality hifi amp that could run two sets of speakers and would accommodate my Phono, CD (Yamaha S300) and Cassette player. The Yamaha AS701 could do all this and much more and was powerful enough for my Wharfedale 157 speakers.
A really powerful sound and great digital connections make this an absolute bargain.blasted some vintage ac/dc and thought bon scott was screaming in my ears!

Yamaha A-S501 2 Channel Integrated Amplifier

The amp is easy to use, simple to set up and very intuitive. All the wiring was in place from my older amp, set-up of this one took less than 10 minutes and it was good-to-go.
It has all the inputs I need and connections for 2 pairs of speakers although I only need to use one pair.
My amp is running 4 speakers containing 8 inch and 6.5 inch drivers with 1 inch dome tweeters and it runs them no problem at all plenty of power.
There is a sub-woofer output for those who like shaking walls when listening to music.
I aslo have a yamaha subwoofer connected which really takes things to 11. can't recommend this amp enough!.
I wish it had bluetooth and USB connectivity.
