What customers say about "Key Specs"
Sony UBP-X500 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Player, Black
  • No WiFi, again there is an ethernet cable port for updating Firmware, and Blu-Ray Live, does anybody even bother with that? as not Smart, WiFi not really essential.
  • Great player .Silent in operation .Nicely made and a little smaller than my last sony which gave up the ghost after 15 or more years . Awesome deph on 4k material.
  • It's small, quiet and quick to load and play discs.
  • Picture and sound quality are great, so if you're looking for just a simple plain player, this is well worth it.
  • No Smart functionality so if you really need that look elsewhere not gripe after buying it.

What customers say about "Features"
Sony UBP-X500 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Player, Black
  • Picture quality is excellent especially at this price point, so it looks like.
  • Picture quality is excellent, sound quality is excellent, I highly recommend this, it's great value for money.
  • If you want something pure to run 4K HDR discs without all these smart app stuff this is great!
  • Great player no apps, so no waiting on updates. Startup fast as this is a player only which makes it a breeze to setup.
  • Runs quietly and just works, I didn't need any smart features.
Sony UBP-X700 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Player - Black
  • Standard dvds do appear to be better quality although the player I replaced was very old!
  • Upscaling feature for ordinary DVD'S is brilliant. Makes all DVD'S appear in 4k ultra picture.
  • Plays 4k Blu Rays. In 4k definition. Preferably on a 4k telly.
  • Upscaling also seems to be pretty impressive on my set and do not have a premium model.
  • I purchased some UHD Discs and the picture so vivid and striking with the few I have played thus far.

What customers say about "Outputs"
Sony UBP-X500 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Player, Black
  • So if you want a player to play discs and media from USB, (there is a USB Port on the front) nd already have Smart functionality on the TV or a Roku etc, this one might well fit the bill.
  • Although this isn’t a smart player (there are no apps, for example), it does have a LAN port for software updates, although you can also do these via the USB port.
  • Very good dvd player..... picture quality excellent and easy to use.... select the hdmi cable on the TV and the player starts automatically.
  • The Sony UBP-X500 is a lightweight and rather small player that has no display and little connectivity – just a single HDMI port, a wired LAN connection and a USB.
  • Viewing or playing files from a USB stick plugged in the front is the only other thing it can do.
Sony UBP-X700 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Player - Black
  • I connect the player to a soundbar via the HDMI 2 audio output.
  • It also had an HDMI audio out so you can plug in your sound-bar if you have one.
  • Great player so far, very quiet, very simple to set up, comes with 2 hdmi outs, perfect if your av receiver cannot pass Dolby Vision.
  • Two hdmi cables, audio to amp, video directly to tv, and it just worked.
  • Thank goodness for the separate audio-only hdmi out. My UK hi-fi amp/receiver could not handle both standard HD and 4K video signals tho' claiming 4K compatibility.
