The fast aperture at every focal length, and image stabilization make this an all-in-one lens.
Wide F2.8 constant aperture. There are not a lot of lenses you can get for Canon APS-C cameras that are F2.8 in this focal range.
It is a great lens for low-light situations thanks to the image stabilizer and large aperture setting.
It performs well in low-light situations, and the nice, wide aperture blurs the background beautifully in portraits.
Extremely sharp at all apertures.

The auto focus worked great, was plenty fast and is pretty quiet.
Image stabilization is a must for hand-held video shots and allows for hand-held shots at slower shutter speeds.

The IS and auto-focus is effective and fast enough for me.
