What customers say about "Key Specs"
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G Lens
  • It takes some getting used to using a fixed focal length, as you have to use your feet to zoom in and out, but the image quality is sharp and quite superb for the price.
  • It takes a little getting use to if you havent used a similar lens with the same focal length before but it is well worth going through the learning curve.
  • Its great, and has great results. Ive always wanted one of these lens so I'm so happy i finally have one. Great focal length.
  • One of the best for a starter to play around with "fixed" focal length, super fast lens. I would say "just buy it" ... dont think.
  • The problem I had with this lens (on my D800E) is softness and CA at wide apertures (there is also a more minor issue of focus being hesitant).
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Camera Lens
  • This is an excellent lens at a fantastic price. Great sharpness, good contrast, excellent bokeh when you open up the aperture, and fairly fast auto focus.
  • It has a maximum aperture of F1.8 it allows you to shoot without flash in dim environments at a low sensitivity setting.
  • Having this wider aperture gives you more possibilities if you like manual mode as you are letting in more light so can compensate with lower iso and possibly higher shutter speeds.
  • This lens is seriously amazing! Only used a couple of times and have created a couple of my favorite images ever. I find the focal length perfect for portraits, giving a nice distance to work from.
  • The only drawback is the immense amount of chromatic aberration at f/1.8 aperture. But then again, it's probably the cheapest auto focusing prime lens so don't expect perfection.

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G Lens
  • It is very light and compact. I can't really say more about it as I need to learn to use it properly but I am pleased with some of the photos I have taken so far.
  • A small and compact lens which can produce excellent image quality.
  • Compact, easy to use, and great for astrophotography which is my primary use for this lens.
  • Great Lens for landscape and portrait alike and very good for the price. Good compact lens lightweight and easy to use.
  • For the price I think this is a must have! It shows great detail and is very light/compact.
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Camera Lens
  • The small size and 85mm focal length is also great for street photography on the go.
  • Small size and low weight. It is either always on my camera or in my pocket when I have to switch to a wide angle!
  • Nice size for portraits and low light. Light weight compared to the zoom lens options.
  • The lens has a fairly low profile to it and very little weight compared to some of the bulkier lenses I use.
  • It's very light in weight and is made of plastic with a metal mount. In use, focus is silent and quite fast on a D7100.

What customers say about "Imaging"
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G Lens
  • Sumptuous piece of glass offering brilliant images with wonderful bokeh. Expensive but worth every penny.
  • Great lens, when used properly it does make pictures amazing. Beautiful DOP, and accurate fast focus. Good buy overall. Love this lens.
  • Well done to Nikon, this is a fantastic lens the picture quality is second to none and just love the bokeh.
  • The lens gives a warmer image than the similar 1.8 version. Highly recommended.
  • The images that I produced with this glass on Nikon D4 were stunning.
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Camera Lens
  • OK, so it's not "pro" quality but it feels and looks well built, handles nicely, isn't too heavy or at all bulky with smooth manual focus and superb low light results.
  • This lens allows for automatic focus and it is extremely fast and sharp. I was very impressed with its speed.
  • Great Bokeh now and very sharp images at close range. Very fast focus.
  • There lens are fixed in size so you cannot zoom but the benefit is a highly specialised lens that performs brilliantly in low light.
  • The thing you need to know is that it does not have zoom, so it's better for portraits I guess.

What customers say about "Features"
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G Lens
  • Its so sharp at the focus point and the out of focus (bokeh) is so smooth.
  • This is a quality product. Autofocus and manual ...no VR but no problem for me. VR is useful if the subject is moving but not if you are moving.
  • Excellent portrait lens with good Bokeh. Its autofocus is not the fastest especially in low light but does the job.
  • Manual focus is made easier due to good wide lens. Capable of natural low light exposures but this comes with a large price tag. Sharp even at fl.4.
  • No problems with focus and depth of field is shallow wide open and should not be mistaken as a focus problem.
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Camera Lens
  • This lens updates the design of the older 85mm f1.8 D model with the newer AF-S silent wave motor making it compatible with all Nikon DSLR bodies.
  • The mount has a rubber seal around it to help keep dust and moisture out, but note the lens is not weather sealed.
  • Its a big lens taking 67mm filters but the lens hood is well made and deep. Very impressed with this lens and on a D7000 it brings it to life.
  • This Nikon 85mm f/1.8 G AF-S lens produces sharp pictures and great colour and contrast this is a brilliant lens, Shallow depth of field and excellent value for money.
  • I have bought a BW nano crystal filter to make up for the lack of coating on the 1.8G.
