Miele Blizzard CX1
The Miele Blizzard CX1 Cat and Dog edition vac is surely one of the best cleaners you can find on the market. It copes brilliantly with everything, including pet hair!
Designed with innovative Vortex technology and 890-Watt powerful motor, it delivers an impressive deep clean of any surface. Vortex is a unique technology that produces an incredible flow rate. Moreover, paired with the specially-designed airtight floorhead, this vacuum delivers a first-class cleaning performance. And what is notable, the Miele cleaner has two separate containers for larger debris and fine dust.
Depending on what you’re going to vacuum, you can easily adjust the power using a convenient rotary dial. The vacuum offers four suction levels for carpets and hard floors. At the maximum setting, the airflow exceeds 100km/h to capture both coarse dirt and fine dust. And to ensure a consistently high cleaning performance, the vacuum is equipped with a smart sensor. Once it senses low air throughput of the Gore CleanStream filter, it automatically activates the self-cleaning function.
Ideal for Pet Owners
This cleaner is ideal for pet owners since it comes with the special TurboTeQ brush that ensures the effective and fast removal of hair and fluff. The spinning brush bar and high powerful suction easily suck hair and lint from carpets and upholstery alike. And when the dirt is captured, the HEPA AirClean lifetime filter ensures nothing will escape back into the air. To specify, the vac retains up to 99.999% of allergens.
Also, the set includes an upholstery nozzle, crevice nozzle, and a dusting brush. All the accessories clip together fairly well and can be neatly secured at the back of the vacuum. On the other side, you'll find a storage compartment for a retractable 7.5-metre cord. The power cord along with telescopic tube gives you 11-metre operating radius, meaning you can conveniently vacuum large rooms without a need to frequently switch power sockets.
Lastly, this bagless hoover has a large-capacity dust container that’s very easy to empty thanks to the Click2open mechanism. The lid opens at a full 180°, allowing all collected dirt and pet hair to fall directly into the trash bin without producing any dust cloud. So, if you need a powerful yet easy-to-use vacuum for pet hair, this is a great option.
If you're on a tight budget, you should definitely consider the Duronic VC5010 bagless cylinder vacuum cleaner that actually offers a bit more than its retail price. It may not be a brand you've even heard before but we assume it's a decent-quality vacuum with some high-end features.
Right out-of-the-box, it becomes obvious that the VC5010 is a neat, compact, and agile cleaner which is supplied with lots of useful extra tools that belie its price. The floor brush works great for hard floors or short-pile rugs, while the turbo brush goes well on higher pile carpets. The latter has a tilt and pivot neck, wheels, and two front rollers.
Two smaller attachments (a crevice tool and an upholstery brush) let you reach awkward spaces like car interior, stairs, and other nooks and crannies. The round brush head is great for skirting boards and tricky areas behind furniture. Also, it extends long enough to remove cobwebs on the ceiling without a ladder.
Speaking about the vacuum cleaner itself, it has a metal telescopic tube and 1.5-meter extendable hose. Everything feels solid and seems to last. For the comfort of use, there is a sustainable carry handle on the top. However, pulling this vac also won't be an issue since it's extremely lightweight and manoeuvrable.
The best part about the Duronic VC5010 cleaner is its cyclonic technology and powerful suction across most surfaces. Unlike bagged models, the cylindrical technology won't interfere with the suction strength even when the dust container is almost full. With that, the cleaner is capable of picking up a wide range of messes including hair, pet fur, dust, and crumbs. Everything goes into a large 4.5-litre dust bin and doesn't escape back into the air. That's achieved thanks to the HEPA filter which traps allergen particles and prevents them from blowing back into your room. The HEPA filter is easy to remove and clean when needed.
Lastly, we would like to emphasise that it's an A+ rating appliance, meaning it'll help you save money on energy bills. Moreover, the higher the energy-efficiency rating is, the longer the vac will last.
All this makes the Duronic cleaner a great entry. It boasts good tech specs, a nice selection of tools, and decent cleaning power for the asking price. And its A+ energy rating will help you save money in the long run.
Miele Complete C3 Cat and Dog
High-flow AirTeQ Floorhead
The Miele 10660820 Complete C3 Cat and Dog PowerLine Bagged Vacuum Cleaner is impressive in more ways that one. That "cat and dog" sentiment in the name there comes from the turbo brush that works wonders removing lint and hair from carpets and different upholstery items around the house, making the vacuum especially suitable for homes with pets.
Also, the new high-flow AirTeQ floorhead lifts pet hairs where its predecessors went for brute suction force and were seldom able to deliver similar results. The brush incorporates variable speeds that you'll be able to access using the sliding vent on top. At the same time, the Active AirClean filter makes sure to neutralise odours and make the place smell as nice as possible. There's this nice little colour strip that lets you know when you ought to change the filter.
Apart from the turbo brush that we've mentioned above, the cleaner comes supplied with three tools: an upholstery nozzle, the pretty much standard crevice tool, and the efficient dusting brush. You'll find these tools under the top cover. The supplied tools push onto the tubes, while the floorheads incorporate this secure clip that makes sure the heads never accidentally detach. The 7.5-metre cable is nothing to write home about. At the same time, the relatively soft and flexible hose and telescopic metal tubes make up the difference to provide an 11-metre cleaning range from the mains.
Clean with Finesse
As far as the cleaner's performance is concerned, the head’s massive suction power is especially evident when you deal with carpets. When you don't switch the power setting from high to minimum, the head will basically limpet onto the carpet, so you'll have to apply noticeable effort to move the head.
When you need that full power, the turbo brush spins ridiculously fast, giving the carpet enough agitation to loosen the dirt. You'll probably have to use that sliding vent to reduce the suction pressure when dealing with rugs that might move or pull up but that's easy to accomplish, so we wouldn't worry about that.
An Absolute Bargain
Not everybody is willing to spend hundreds of pounds on a simple household appliance such as a vacuum cleaner, even if it’s got some accessories to go along with it. If you’re a thrifty shopper looking for a bargain but don’t want to compromise on the quality of the vacuum, we recommend trying the Hoover SE71WR02 Whirlwind.
This model may be lightweight at a mere 3.8 kg but it’s certainly up to par with the bigger ones in terms of suction power. It may not rip tiles out of the floor but 700 W is enough to suck up any dirt, dust, and clingy pet fur out of carpets. You can, of course, adjust the power level if you need to, for times when you’re cleaning curtains or particularly delicate materials.
We’re not going to pretend that the small size of the vacuum doesn’t have a disadvantage, namely the pretty tiny collection tank of 1.5 litres. You’ll have to empty it out after every cleaning session and, occasionally, maybe even in the middle of one.
Like any good canister vacuum, the Hoover SE71WR02 Whirlwind has a fully flexible hose and a telescopic tube so you can reach any spot in the room with ease. While the official manual puts the cleaning radius at 5 meters, we’d actually estimate it being a bit higher, depending on which nozzle you put on the hose.
Pet Hair Beware!
You won’t ever have to get down on your knees to brush stray hairs or dirt from underneath the couch as the Hoover SE71WR02 Whirlwind comes with a crevice tool. This nozzle lets you slide into any nooks to get to particularly dirty areas that can’t be reached with the regular attachment. You can even clean those little creases between tiles in the kitchen and the bathroom, which we certainly recommend doing since those places are a breeding ground for microbes and other bacteria.
Owners of furry pets will be glad to know that the Hoover SE71WR02 Whirlwind is equipped with a special turbo brush designed to suck up animal hairs. No more shedding on your clothes, no stray fur clogging up the carpet, the nozzle lets you pick up fur efficiently. This accessory and the others are kept right on the body of the vacuum so you won’t ever lose the useful nozzle by accident.
Last but not least we want to praise the choice of the motor in this model since it seems to be quite energy-efficient, using up much less electricity than some of the similar competitors. The motor does have its shortcomings, though, as the vacuum can be a bit noisy. Still, a few minutes of noise is worth the savings you get on the electricity bill!
We find the Hoover SE71WR02 Whirlwind to be a great bargain if you’re looking for an effective and compact canister vacuum that’s going to keep your home free of dirt and pet hair. Don’t let the modest design fool you, this hoover is up there with the best!
Beko VCO62602AB Orion 6
Considering the affordable price tag, the Beko VCO62602AB Orion 6 looks quite nice. The unit's appearance is not necessarily what sells the product though. First and foremost, it is all about the hoover's performance.
Drawing 800 watts, this cylinder vacuum cleaner is as powerful as they come. At the same time, it is really the company's PerformCyclone™ technology that separates the product from its direct competition.
Offering constant high suction power, the cyclonic system enables the cleaner to pick up the smallest dust particles, letting you clean the carpets, hard floors, and even those hard-to-reach spots that usually sit there and collect dust without any assistance from the hoover. You'll have no issues with tile and vinyl floors too.
As far as the model's build is concerned, we've seen similar hoovers before. The 6-metre cord and the relatively long suction hose give this vacuum cleaner ~10-metre cleaning radius. In other words, the model won't make you tied to the mains as much as cheap hoovers usually make you, so you'll be able to manoeuvre around the room without any major issues.
The wheels underneath this cylinder vacuum cleaner will let you clean and move without having to physically carry the unit. However, when you will have to carry this hoover, the ~4.9-kilogram weight will make it pretty easy on you.
The model measures 60.2 x 52.5 x 42.7 centimetres, so you shouldn't face any noticeable storage/mobility problems. Plus, the hoover's compact size and the supplied dusting brush, crevice tool, and an upholstery attachment will let you clean and access every/any corner and surface with ease
In addition to the unit's compact size and supplied attachments, the height-adjustable handle makes the hoover especially practical. You won't have to lean/bend to vacuum different spots despite how tall/short you are.
This bagless cleaner comes equipped with the most efficient HEPA13 filter that does an excellent job keeping ~99.97% of dust particles inside the unit, making this hoover especially suitable for those who deal with asthma and different allergies.
What Is a Canister Vacuum?
People spend a lot of time cleaning. The problem is, it is almost impossible to remove house dust completely as the air keeps transferring it all the time. It should be noted that dusted air has a negative impact on human health. Harmful allergens and germs can cause allergy, headache, and tiredness.
If you want to keep your dwelling clean, consider getting a canister vacuum. This appliance is very manoeuvrable because its cleaning brush is connected to the dust canister with the help of a flexible hose. Thus, you can easily clean between and under the furniture. Featured with various nozzles, a canister vacuum can perform a thorough clean-up of wooden and tiled surfaces, carpets, or louvers in your dwelling. Furthermore, if you have a furry friend, this device will easily remove pet dander and even harmful bacteria!
In this review, we'd like to focus on the five best models of canister vacuums presented on the market so you can choose the one that suits your needs best. And if you are interested in other options, we can offer you to take a look at our selections of cordless vacuums and carpet cleaners where you can find a model that will simplify your chores even more.
What Features to Compare
You should decide on the type before purchasing a vacuum cleaner. Modern vacuums are designed for both dry and wet cleaning. In general, there are three main types of vacuum cleaners.
- Vacuums with the Cyclonic technology and plastic dust bags (also called bowls or canisters) are considered to be the best. Such appliances never lose their suction power. No filters and dust bags to replace - no extra expenses. For example, Dyson vacuums not only remove dust from various surfaces but also capture microscopic dust particles as small as 0.5 microns. They are perfect for allergy or asthma sufferers.
- Vacuum cleaners with dust bags are great for dry cleaning. They accumulate dust and dirt in reusable or disposable dust bags. For example, vacuums with disposable bags are considered to be more hygienic because they protect consumers from touching the dust while removing it. Furthermore, these devices are environmentally friendly because they don't need any chemicals for clean-ups. Note, please, that the capacity of disposable dust bags is higher than that of reusable bags.
- Wet/dry suction cleaners perform a wider spectrum of functions than most dry vacuum cleaners do. For example, they can easily remove the stains of spilt coffee from any surfaces. Moreover, they are also appropriate for removing dirt and dust from carpets, soft furniture or laminate. Such devices can even remove pets' excrement from upholstery and neutralise unpleasant odours. It should be added that these vacuums can easily remove tough stains with a push of a button. All you need to do is apply a wet/dry suction cleaner on the stain or spot and choose a cleaning cycle. That's all!
The performance of a canister vacuum cleaner primarily depends on a vacuuming speed and dust cup capacity. Air filtration is also very important. Suction power has a direct impact on the vacuuming speed. Consequently, the higher suction power the vacuum has, the more thorough and the faster clean-up it will perform. Note that you will have to clean a large dust cup less often than a small one.
Canister vacuum cleaners not only perform a clean-up of your apartment but also purify the air that you breathe. Thus, all models are fitted with filters. Every canister vacuum model has a washable coarse mesh filter that captures large particles of dust. It should also be mentioned that the HEPA filter is considered to be the most effective one since it captures up to 99.97% of dust, bacteria and germs. Such air filtration will be appreciated by allergy sufferers. Moreover, the construction of a wet/dry suction cleaner includes a water reservoir and an aqua filter. Thus, this device performs not only an effective cleaning of your apartment but also humidifies the air. Superb!
Nozzles also have a significant impact on the performance of a vacuum cleaner. For example, a turbine head is designed to remove pet hair from your carpets or furniture. A crevice tool is appropriate for vacuuming soft furniture while a brush roller can easily remove dust from household appliances. An accessory kit often contains the variety of other nozzles that help customers remove dust even from the most hard-to-reach areas.
Customers should also know everything about the convenience of the chosen appliance. Some models of vacuum cleaners are equipped with adjustable handles, which allow customers to reach the most confined places. The cord length defines how far you can move the device from the socket. If the cord is too short, you should think of purchasing an extension cable. Furthermore, some vacuum cleaners are equipped with an automatic unwind system. It will be enough to push a special button to unwind a cord. All in all, such a technical solution will help adjust the cord length and prevent it from dangling.
Finally, a vacuum cleaner should be easily disassembled to allow the customer to replace the filter and wash the reservoir. If you choose the vacuum cleaner that satisfies all your demands, you will be able to enjoy your every clean-up!
