One of the most powerful models out there with a suction capacity enough to handle all kinds of dirt and debris. Offers easy controls via a couple of buttons on the body of the device.
The replaceable bags are quite pricey.
A well-rounded vacuum that may cost you a bit above the average but the quality it offers is more than worth the price. The cleaning radius is quite wide, the capacious bags won't fill up too fast and won't tear after a couple uses, and the suction power is high to tackle all kinds of cleanups without hassle. Great choice if you're ready to invest in the quality.

Comfort telescopic tube, Flexible hose, Dust bag
Practical locking system, Cable rewind with single-touch control, Carry handle, Wheels
The cleaning radius of this model is one of the highest among the competition due to its long hose and long telescopic tube. This, paired with the overall high efficiency, greatly simplifies cleanups.
This model is somewhat heavy.
Hetty may be an adorable Canister Vacuum but it's also a highly powerful one, offering excellent filtration, pretty high suction power, and a range of nozzles for cleanups in hard-to-reach places. Don't let those cute eyes fool you, Hetty is a dirt destroyer.

On-board accessory storage, Wand docking, Automatic cord rewind, Carry handle, Wheels
The combination floor head is equally effective at cleaning soft surfaces like rugs and carpets and hard flooring types such as wood and tile.
The spot where the hose connects to the body of the vacuum looks flimsy.
While being one of the most compact and lightweight Canister Vacuum cleaners out there the Vax AWC01 doesn't seem to lack in the suction power and delivers great on all flooring types. If you aren't bothered by having to empty its dust bin quite often, this hoover should win over you with its exceptional manoeuvrability and fair price.

The 4 level filtration system eliminates 99.97% of dust and allergens, which is particularly important for people with weak immune systems.
Tough to move on rugs and carpets.
The Deik vacuum isn't the most manoeuvrable out there but it's certainly quieter than many others and just as powerful. It's a great budget-friendly pick and the smart design is just an eye-pleasing bonus. Choose it both for carpeting and hard surfaces, just be careful when you move it around.

The Hoover SE71WR02 is positively tiny compared to some of the other models, despite having a rather powerful motor and offering great suction. It's a bit noisy during operation but it's one of the most affordable vacuums you could find and it doesn't compromise one bit as far as quality concerned. A good choice for a thrifty shopper.

Miele Complete C3 PowerLine
Cleaning with Comfort
Home reflects your personality and inner world, and if you want to be inspired and have the desire to go back to it, it has to be clean. The problem is, cleanups can be quite time-consuming, and removing dirt from certain surfaces can be a real challenge. Luckily, the Miele Complete C3 PowerLine Canister Vacuum cleaner can solve this problem for you and become your reliable weapon against dust, spills, and dry debris.
The Miele Complete C3 PowerLine boasts a long telescopic tube which can be extended as much as needed depending on the area you need to clean. This allows cleaning in hard-to-reach places, such as between and underneath furniture with ease. This also helps reduce the stress on the lower part of the back which will come in handy if you or your family member has problems with back. The length of the tube allows you to keep your spine straight so you do not need to bend and strain your back.
In addition to the long hose and tube, the Miele Complete C3 PowerLine boasts a good bunch of accessories that allow cleaning in tight spaces. One of them is a crevice tool which, as you can infer from the name, allows reaching in tiny nooks and crevices of floors and furniture. Another one is an upholstery nozzle that makes it easy to keep soft furnishings and car interior clean. We'd highly recommend not ignoring this type of cleanup as sofas and mattresses tend to collect the most amount of dust and microbes than you could imagine.
Good Things Come in Small Packages
Though the Miele Complete C3 PowerLine seems an average model, don't let its looks fool you. With the suction power of 890 W, this vac can destroy just about any type of dirt with ease. Even the deepest rug will eave to its pressure, should you go over it a couple times. Of course, you won't need to use that kind of power all the time. The good news is, the Miele Complete C3 PowerLine has several speed options which you can regulate with the buttons on the body. The cleanup, however, doesn't end when you suck up dirt, right? As you'd expect from a top-notch vacuum cleaner, the Miele Complete C3 PowerLine then filters the waste and dumps it into a collection bag so you can throw it later, it has a generously-sized 4.5-l dust cup and AirClean filter. What this also means is that you won't need to empty it too often. For greater convenience, the vac features an indicator which visually informs when the dust cup is full. Speaking of which, the dust cup needs occasional replacement which some users might consider as a disadvantage seeing that these cups aren't very cheap. On the other hand, this is the price you should be willing to pay when quality, efficiency, and a great level of performance are your priority, as the Miele Complete C3 fits these three to a tee. It packs plenty of power, it's durable, and it provides a wide cleaning radius.
Amazing Cleaning Radius
It’s highly likely that the first word that comes to your mind when you think of vacuum cleaners isn’t “adorable” and yeah, we get that. But if you look at the truly adorable Numatic Hetty container vacuum and say that it’s not the cutest domestic appliance you’ve ever seen, we’re going to have a stern talk.
Jokes aside, let’s look past the admittedly sweet design and see what this cleaner has to offer in terms of power and efficiency. While you may not be particularly impressed by the 620 W suction power, it’s high enough to get the dirt out of carpets and pick up food spills in the kitchen. Sure, it’s not the best fit for deep vacuuming of Persian rugs but if your household is decked out in those, you’re not too likely to even look at the adorable Hetty.
The sweet little vacuum can still impress thanks to a pretty long 10 m power cord that boosts maneuverability and extends the cleaning radius. Which, by the way, is at a whopping 26.1 m, definitely one of the widest coverage areas we’ve seen in this kind of device. That radius is owed to the telescopic tube, designed for comfortable use by people of all heights. It can be collapsed to practically nothing so you can even teach your kids to keep their rooms clean with the help of Hetty!
No Dirt Left Behind
Hetty doesn’t just cover a lot of ground, it picks up everything in the radius efficiently, leaving not a single speck behind. Thanks to a crevice tool, you can get to any point in the house including corners and places behind furniture. The upholstery nozzle is also sure to find some use as you need to regularly clean up your bed and sofa and any other soft-padded furniture around the house. Both of these can be stored right on the vacuum thanks to the nifty holders built into its body.
The Numatic Hetty may seem like a tiny wonder but it is kind of hefty at 7.5 kg. That weight is fully justified by a large 6-L collection bag, which you won’t have to change out all that often. Still, when the time comes, the HepaFlo bags are easy to swap out and you get several for free with your purchase, saving you money in the long run.
Hetty is also a great choice for households with allergic people as its TriTrex filtration system passes all collected debris through several filters to prevent any dust from escaping back into the air. Maintenance is also quite easy as you only need to rinse the filter once in a while and, if needed, replace it once a year.
We found quite a lot to like about the adorable cleaner Hetty, such as the additional nozzles, huge cleaning radius, and reliable filtration. If you want a cute and efficient domestic appliance, "she" is certainly the way to go!
Compact Dust Destroyer
Many of the more effective vacuum cleaners tend to be bulky, taking up a lot of storage space and banging into furniture when you try to maneuver them around the room. Thankfully, the Vax AWC01 Power 3 is a compact and lightweight exception to the rule.
Good design is easy to spot by the lack of unnecessary details, especially in appliances. So it’s safe to say the Vax vacuum is extremely well-designed. The whole vacuum is basically just the wheels to roll around, the canister to store dirt and dust, and the long hose to reach all over the room. It’s a simple yet elegant and effective device and not just because of the minimalistic design.
The vacuum comes with several attachments for more efficient cleaning, including crevice and upholstery nozzles. While the former will help you get rid of dirt in corners and under furniture, the latter is going to keep the bed you sleep on free of dust mites and allergens. These two nozzles are coupled with a special dusting brush for light cleaning of delicate surfaces and a combination floor head that’s equally effective on carpets, tile, wood, and any other flooring type. The nozzles are especially useful thanks to the 800 W suction power, enough to get any sticky debris out without resorting to manually picking things up.
Puts Dust Through the Wringer
The Vax AWC01 Power 3 is easy to move around thanks to the low 4.3 kg weight and the wheels but, just in case there’s no room for the vacuum to roll by on its own, you can use the integrated carry handle to, well, carry it around. While we’re on the subject of nifty little features, you can rewind the power cord using your feet. Just step on the little pedal and the cable will get wound back without you having to bend down. This is doubly convenient since the cord itself is quite long at 5 meters, enough to move around the room freely but not too long so as to get tangled in furniture legs.
We also can’t fault the HEPA filter, a staple of many high-end vacuums and a great bonus for people with allergies. This particular filter type uses three barriers to prevent dust and debris from escaping back into the air, guaranteeing a pretty much 100% rate of filtration.
However, we are a bit apprehensive about the quality of some of the Vax AWC01’s parts. For example, the hose isn’t affixed to the body of the vacuum all that well and we wouldn’t recommend tugging on it too hard if you don’t want to end up with a broken device. Also, while the container is easy to clean, it would be nice if it was bigger than 2.2 L. That kind of capacity means you have to empty it out after every use, wasting time in the process.
Still, the Vax AWC01 is more than the sum of its parts and it’s sure to get your home squeaky clean and look good in the process. It’s a well-designed bagless Canister Vacuum that's comparatively quiet and one of the most compact models we’ve seen before.
Deik Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner
A Quiet and Lightweight Model
One particular complaint that’s always brought up when talking about vacuums is how loud they can get. Sure, you don’t have them on for that long but the noise can get really grating and if you can find a quiet model like the Deik Cylinder why not take advantage of it?
This bagless Canister Vacuum might not run silently but it’s certainly quiet enough to be better than the competition. But the low noise level isn’t the only thing that the Deik Cylinder has going for it. For example, it has a pretty powerful motor providing 800 W of suction, very impressive for a model this quiet.
The Deik Cylinder is also one of the lightest vacuums out there at a mere 3.6 kg owing to the small 1.3 L canister and a slim body. While it’s understandable that some customers might prefer a more capacious canister over the low weight of the device, we feel that the choice is a smart one as the less heavy the vacuum is the easier it is to maneuver around the room.
Plus, the Deik Cylinder comes with all the little things that you usually look for in a Canister Vacuum such as wheels, a carry handle, and automatic cord rewind. They may not be the most important standout features but they do make life easier and speed up the cleaning process substantially.
No Microbe Left Standing
While a vacuum’s main goal is to suck up dirt, you have to make sure that the debris that has gotten inside the device stays there for good and doesn’t get expelled back into the air of your home. That’s why it’s important to have a good filtration system in your canister vacuum such as the 4 level filter in the Deik Cylinder. This four-tier system traps 99.9% of dust and allergens like pet fur, dust mites, and pollen. You can’t truly say your home is clean unless your vacuum has a powerful filter like this.
We are a bit disappointed by the wheels design as the Deik Cylinder seems to have trouble moving on deeper rugs, getting stuck quite often. However, the flexible hose and crevice tool mean you won’t ever be unable to reach a tough spot that’s gotten dusty over time. With a 7.5 m cleaning radius, you can be sure that the telescopic tube of the Deik vacuum will get every last speck of dirt in the home.
In the end, it’s safe to say that the Deik Cylinder is the best budget vacuum cleaner in terms of sheer performance and dirt filtration. It’s going to work particularly well on hardwood, tile, and carpets and while it may have a bit of trouble maneuvering the device certainly vacuums deep rugs just as perfectly as any other surface.
An Absolute Bargain
Not everybody is willing to spend hundreds of pounds on a simple household appliance such as a vacuum cleaner, even if it’s got some accessories to go along with it. If you’re a thrifty shopper looking for a bargain but don’t want to compromise on the quality of the vacuum, we recommend trying the Hoover SE71WR02 Whirlwind.
This model may be lightweight at a mere 3.8 kg but it’s certainly up to par with the bigger ones in terms of suction power. It may not rip tiles out of the floor but 700 W is enough to suck up any dirt, dust, and clingy pet fur out of carpets. You can, of course, adjust the power level if you need to, for times when you’re cleaning curtains or particularly delicate materials.
We’re not going to pretend that the small size of the vacuum doesn’t have a disadvantage, namely the pretty tiny collection tank of 1.5 litres. You’ll have to empty it out after every cleaning session and, occasionally, maybe even in the middle of one.
Like any good canister vacuum, the Hoover SE71WR02 Whirlwind has a fully flexible hose and a telescopic tube so you can reach any spot in the room with ease. While the official manual puts the cleaning radius at 5 meters, we’d actually estimate it being a bit higher, depending on which nozzle you put on the hose.
Pet Hair Beware!
You won’t ever have to get down on your knees to brush stray hairs or dirt from underneath the couch as the Hoover SE71WR02 Whirlwind comes with a crevice tool. This nozzle lets you slide into any nooks to get to particularly dirty areas that can’t be reached with the regular attachment. You can even clean those little creases between tiles in the kitchen and the bathroom, which we certainly recommend doing since those places are a breeding ground for microbes and other bacteria.
Owners of furry pets will be glad to know that the Hoover SE71WR02 Whirlwind is equipped with a special turbo brush designed to suck up animal hairs. No more shedding on your clothes, no stray fur clogging up the carpet, the nozzle lets you pick up fur efficiently. This accessory and the others are kept right on the body of the vacuum so you won’t ever lose the useful nozzle by accident.
Last but not least we want to praise the choice of the motor in this model since it seems to be quite energy-efficient, using up much less electricity than some of the similar competitors. The motor does have its shortcomings, though, as the vacuum can be a bit noisy. Still, a few minutes of noise is worth the savings you get on the electricity bill!
We find the Hoover SE71WR02 Whirlwind to be a great bargain if you’re looking for an effective and compact canister vacuum that’s going to keep your home free of dirt and pet hair. Don’t let the modest design fool you, this hoover is up there with the best!
What Is a Canister Vacuum?
People spend a lot of time cleaning. The problem is, it is almost impossible to remove house dust completely as the air keeps transferring it all the time. It should be noted that dusted air has a negative impact on human health. Harmful allergens and germs can cause allergy, headache, and tiredness.
If you want to keep your dwelling clean, consider getting a Canister Vacuum. This appliance is very manoeuvrable because its cleaning brush is connected to the dust canister with the help of a flexible hose. Thus, you can easily clean between and under the furniture. Featured with various nozzles, a Canister Vacuum can perform a thorough clean-up of wooden and tiled surfaces, carpets, or louvers in your dwelling. Furthermore, if you have a furry friend, this device will easily remove pet dander and even harmful bacteria!
In this review, we'd like to focus on the five best models of Canister Vacuums presented on the market so you can choose the one that suits your needs best. And if you are interested in other options, we can offer you to take a look at our selections of cordless vacuums and carpet cleaners where you can find a model that will simplify your chores even more.
What Features to Compare
You should decide on the type before purchasing a vacuum cleaner. Modern vacuums are designed for both dry and wet cleaning. In general, there are three main types of vacuum cleaners.
- Vacuums with the Cyclonic technology and plastic dust bags (also called bowls or canisters) are considered to be the best. Such appliances never lose their suction power. No filters and dust bags to replace - no extra expenses. For example, Dyson vacuums not only remove dust from various surfaces but also capture microscopic dust particles as small as 0.5 microns. They are perfect for allergy or asthma sufferers.
- Vacuum cleaners with dust bags are great for dry cleaning. They accumulate dust and dirt in reusable or disposable dust bags. For example, vacuums with disposable bags are considered to be more hygienic because they protect consumers from touching the dust while removing it. Furthermore, these devices are environmentally friendly because they don't need any chemicals for clean-ups. Note, please, that the capacity of disposable dust bags is higher than that of reusable bags.
- Wet/dry suction cleaners perform a wider spectrum of functions than most dry vacuum cleaners do. For example, they can easily remove the stains of spilt coffee from any surfaces. Moreover, they are also appropriate for removing dirt and dust from carpets, soft furniture or laminate. Such devices can even remove pets' excrement from upholstery and neutralise unpleasant odours. It should be added that these vacuums can easily remove tough stains with a push of a button. All you need to do is apply a wet/dry suction cleaner on the stain or spot and choose a cleaning cycle. That's all!
The performance of a Canister Vacuum cleaner primarily depends on a vacuuming speed and dust cup capacity. Air filtration is also very important. Suction power has a direct impact on the vacuuming speed. Consequently, the higher suction power the vacuum has, the more thorough and the faster clean-up it will perform. Note that you will have to clean a large dust cup less often than a small one.
Canister Vacuum cleaners not only perform a clean-up of your apartment but also purify the air that you breathe. Thus, all models are fitted with filters. Every Canister Vacuum model has a washable coarse mesh filter that captures large particles of dust. It should also be mentioned that the HEPA filter is considered to be the most effective one since it captures up to 99.97% of dust, bacteria and germs. Such air filtration will be appreciated by allergy sufferers. Moreover, the construction of a wet/dry suction cleaner includes a water reservoir and an aqua filter. Thus, this device performs not only an effective cleaning of your apartment but also humidifies the air. Superb!
Nozzles also have a significant impact on the performance of a vacuum cleaner. For example, a turbine head is designed to remove pet hair from your carpets or furniture. A crevice tool is appropriate for vacuuming soft furniture while a brush roller can easily remove dust from household appliances. An accessory kit often contains the variety of other nozzles that help customers remove dust even from the most hard-to-reach areas.
Customers should also know everything about the convenience of the chosen appliance. Some models of vacuum cleaners are equipped with adjustable handles, which allow customers to reach the most confined places. The cord length defines how far you can move the device from the socket. If the cord is too short, you should think of purchasing an extension cable. Furthermore, some vacuum cleaners are equipped with an automatic unwind system. It will be enough to push a special button to unwind a cord. All in all, such a technical solution will help adjust the cord length and prevent it from dangling.
Finally, a vacuum cleaner should be easily disassembled to allow the customer to replace the filter and wash the reservoir. If you choose the vacuum cleaner that satisfies all your demands, you will be able to enjoy your every clean-up!
