Labgear lhg10t

A Touch of Classic Design

Sometimes trying to mess with the classic design is just not worth it, especially if that classic model still works just peachy. And that’s certainly the case regarding the Labgear lhg10t outdoor loft antenna. It’s as vintage as they get, a wiry, large antenna that could be seen on any rooftop just a decade ago. Although this type of receiver is less popular now, it still has a lot to offer as this model uses upgraded tech.

Yes, indeed, despite the regular aerial design, this model has a special built-in 4G filter which automatically filters out any interference and faulty signals. This is particularly important if you live in the city with cell signal towers placed all over. These tend to ruin the signal reception for older models so a modern antenna like the Labgear lhg10t is a good upgrade choice.

Although this antenna does not have an amplifier, it is a high gain model with 15 dBi. This means that while the 4G filter protects you from cell towers, the built-in gain capacity keeps the signal receiver working well with no noise or interference coming through. While we wouldn’t have minded an amplifier to boost the reception range, the Labgear lhg10t seems to do just fine without it, picking up the signal and keeping it clear to provide the highest quality possible.

Review of Labgear lhg10t 10 Bay Professional High Gain TV Aerial

Pristine Picture

Now, you might be thinking that, since this is a high-end option, at least judging by the price, the Labgear lhg10t should come with some extra features. Or at least refine the standard ones to absolute excellence. While we have to concede that you’re not getting any insane bonuses, you do receive great picture quality as this antenna is capable of transmitting the signal in 1080p. That’s pretty much the golden standard for the majority of TV channels now so you’ll be able to enjoy your favourite films and shows the way they’re meant to be seen.

When we said you wouldn’t get any bonuses when you purchase the Labgear lhg10t, that didn’t include one small con that sours the impression of the product a bit. We’re talking about the lack of a coaxial cable, an essential part for antenna setup. This means you’ll not only have to spend extra on the cable but also make sure that you order it in a timely fashion or you’ll have to wait for several days before being able to actually catch a signal.

Still, a cable isn’t hard to find, unlike a high-quality antenna that keeps the signal clear and provides excellent picture quality. So we recommend scooping the Labgear lhg10t up because it’s a real bargain that’s going to help you enjoy TV in the best way possible.

RGTech Monarch 50 Black

A Place for Quality

If you want your antenna to be easily accessible and, thus, fixable on your own without any professional help, you should look for an indoor model. In that case, we can recommend the RGTech Monarch 50 Black.

This discreet black box can be both left standing on your desktop or mounted on a wall. That way you can hide it away to save space and keep it out of guests’ sight. Plus, you can affix it to the back of your TV, which might not do much to fortify the signal further but it does make for some smart and convenient placement.

Now, although we’d certainly recommend keeping the device close by, your placement options won’t be too restricted as the coaxial cable here is about 4.5 metres long, enough to put the antenna anywhere you’d like. The cable itself is quite sturdy with several layers of shielding to prevent electromagnetic interference and more mundane problems such as breakage as well as wear and tear.

Sadly, we can’t say the same about the device itself as even the front panel gets scratched up really fast. While the RGTech Monarch 50 antenna isn’t one of those devices where looks are key, it’s still upsetting to see a brand new product lose its shine after a month of use. Plus, this is telling of a cheap material which means the antenna likely won’t withstand a fall from a desk or a windowsill.

Review of RGTech Monarch 50 Black Indoor Freeview HDTV Aerial - True 50 Mile Range, Multidirectional Reception

Enjoy 4K TV

As for the tech specs, the RGTech Monarch 50 Black might not look like much but it’s still a high-power antenna. The gain here is relatively standard at 5 dBi with no amplifier needed. Couple this with the ability to intercept signals of all types, including FM, DAB, VHF, and UHF and you get an antenna that can bring you any channel in the area. Now, that wouldn’t mean much without good picture quality but the RGTech Monarch isn’t all bark without bite. The antenna supports analog and digital signals with 1080p and even 4K picture quality, a big bonus for film lovers that want to see every single detail.

Moreover, the picture won’t be ruined by interference from cell towers or other sources as this model uses a 4G filter to keep the unwanted signals away. This means your final image on the TV won’t be filled with noise or corrupted even if the actual signal isn’t as strong as it could be.

While it might look a bit too basic, the RGTech Monarch 50 is a high-end antenna that offers amazing picture quality and its only apparent flaw is relatively cheap construction, which could shorten the service life. But as long as you have this antenna working for you, your TV watching will be pleasant and interference-free.

1byone Amplified HDTV Antenna

Go Local

The 1byone Amplified HDTV Antenna is a digital indoor TV antenna which is designed for use inside a house or a flat. It features a signal amplifier and is able to receive signals within a radius of about 35 miles from the broadcasting television tower, which means your TV will always have a clear picture even if you’re a bit far from the city. This makes it perfect for those out in the country. With this digital antenna, you can forget about the paid satellite and cable TV and enjoy watching all the local digital channels absolutely for free.

This 1byone Amplified HDTV digital antenna has an active adapter for power amplification, which will provide the best video signal reception by enhancing the signal up to 7dB. That way the image should stay clear even if the signal is being interrupted by poor weather or power issues. The range of reproduced frequencies includes FM, VHF 47-230MHz, UHF 470-862MHz, making it the best TV antenna to receive free television broadcasts of high-definition TV channels such as the US imports of ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, and Fox as well as local stuff such as BBC, Dave, and others. The 1byone Amplified HDTV Antenna provides up to 1080p HD broadcast format that allows you to enjoy a clear, high-quality picture of your favourite shows and programs. Admittedly, this means that it’s used best with high-end TVs with huge screens so make sure you’ve got a flat-screen ready for it.

Review of 1byone Amplified HDTV Antenna Detachable Amplifier Signal Booster

Teched Up for Quality

The 1byone Amplified HDTV Antenna features very discreet, convenient, and lightweight design. You can hide both the digital antenna and its 3-metre coaxial cable behind the TV, put them on a table, or install them on the window (note that this may result in exposure to direct sunlight). In comparison with other antennas, this indoor TV antenna has a slightly larger size of 13.7 x 9.8 x 2.1 inches and the weight of 32 ounces but its design resembles a basic internet router so it’s not going to interfere with your interior design. Its power amplifier provides 12V, 50mA voltage and cable resistance is 75 ohms. This means that the antenna can be plugged into different outlets and won’t be damaged by power surges. That’s particularly important for safety reasons, of course.

So if you want an antenna with easy placement, good transmission quality, and some safety measures, the 1byone Amplified HDTV is a pretty great choice. It’s reasonably priced, well-built with a long and sturdy coaxial cable, perfect for keeping your TV showing all the stations in the region with high-quality picture.

August DTA240

No Limits on Placement

When you think of an antenna, you probably have a few particular characteristics and design types in mind and you certainly wouldn’t imagine it being a tiny short gizmo that you could take along on a picnic. But that’s exactly what the August DTA240 is and it’s the perfect mix of high-quality signal transmission and an antenna that can be used both indoor and as an outdoor loft model, even if you’re far away from an electrical outlet.

This antenna can be hooked up to your TV, a tuner, or even your laptop using the USB port. And that not only boosts its range of functionality but makes the installation process easy as a pie. You don’t need any technical know-how to plug the antenna into the receiving device. And if you want to free up some space or no longer have any need for the August DTA240, you can put it away just as easily.

Speaking of space, let’s discuss placement options. Aside from the obvious free-standing one, you can mount this antenna on the wall or even stick it to your fridge or any metal object. If you’re wondering how the answer is simple - a powerful built-in magnet in the base of the antenna. And if your living room has nothing metal to hang the August DTA240, you can simply use adhesive stickers as even they’ll be able to support the low weight of the antenna.

Review of August DTA240 High Gain Freeview TV Aerial - HD Portable Indoor/Outdoor Digital HD Antenna for USB TV Tuner / DVB-T Television

Modesty is a Virtue

So you can take this antenna along anywhere or have it sitting in your flat (or outside it, for that matter). But let’s talk about how good it actually is at transmitting signals. Just like a regular stationary model would, the August DTA240 intercepts signals on FM, DAB, VHF, and UHF frequencies.

Now, admittedly, the model isn’t flawless as the gain of 3 dBi is quite modest to say the least. Couple that with the lack of an amplifier and you shouldn’t expect this small antenna to pick up signals from many miles away. However, we do have to say that the coaxial cable here seems to be shielded reasonably well so any kind of interference should be a non-issue unless you’re right by the source of the signals. Besides, we didn’t expect any technical breakthroughs from a tiny antenna that’s one of the most budget-friendly on the market.

In the end, we admit that it’s a flawed product. But despite the low gain, the lacking tech specs are made up for by the smart design and the very affordable price. We’d still call the August DTA20 a fine choice if you want a portable or stationary antenna that will be compatible with most devices in your home and won’t take up much space.

pendoo TV Antenna 001

Signals from All Over

Tired of noise ruining the picture quality while you’re trying to watch some football or enjoy your favourite show? This can be solved by either paying tons for a high-end antenna or going for a bargain and getting a simple one with an amplifier. Today, we’re recommending the latter in the form of the pendoo TV Antenna 001.

The amplifier here is USB-powered so it’s easy to find a way to get it working and, from there on, the device does the job for you. It enhances the natural power of the antenna to get its range of reception up. With the amplifier active, you can get up to 50 miles coverage, which should be more than enough to get all local channels and more.

Admittedly, reception range isn’t everything as getting the signal is one thing but keeping it clear is a whole different ordeal. Sadly, the pendoo TV Antenna 001 doesn’t offer all that much protection except for whatever shielding there is in its coaxial cable (which, thankfully, is pretty long, great for placement freedom). So try to make sure you don’t place the antenna too close to sources of electromagnetic interference, which include powerful appliances like air conditioners, fridges, microwaves, and more.

Review of pendoo TV Antenna 001 Freeview Indoor TV Aerial 50 Mile Range Amplified Digital TV Aerial with Detachable Amplifier Signal Booster

Seeing is Believing

Despite the small shortcomings in terms of protection, if your signal comes through clear, you’ll be very pleased with what the pendoo TV Antenna 001 delivers. This model features 1080p and 4K quality, so you can enjoy TV on a huge screen without cringing at the pixelated picture. Since all channels are now broadcasting in at least HD, you’ll be able to view their content the way it’s meant to be seen.

And the antenna itself is quite nice to look at as well. The thin and long black box can be placed on your desktop or mounted on the wall, though we wouldn’t recommend doing the latter with the adhesive stickers that come with the purchase. Those aren’t very reliable and we’d suggest that, instead, you should opt for your own tools and do the job right. The antenna requires no complicated setup, it’s a plug-and-go device so even if you have no idea how TVs work, you’ll be able to use it right away without reading through lengthy manuals.

Overall, while there are some flaws here, we’d say that the pendoo TV Antenna 001 is a smart choice for those who want a top-notch device on a budget. It has great reception range, high picture quality, and doesn’t take ages to install. The few problems that this model has can be fixed via some DIY methods and shouldn’t deter you from a great product.

What Is a TV Antenna?

Younger people might be puzzled when looking at these strange appliances but loft aerial TV antennas have long been an essential part of any household that has a television set. If we had to make an analogy, we’d call them the routers of television, intercepting the signal and transferring it to your TV to bring you all of your favourite shows and films. The devices usually have a certain limitation on the range in which they can pick up signals but some of them are powerful enough to get signals from all over the region.

Most of the time, the antennas would be mounted on your roof or, at least, the side of your building but some of the models now are pretty basic, sitting snugly on desks by the TV, barely noticeable amidst all the other tech. Yet the purpose remains the same: to bring you digital TV signals in the highest quality possible. Though many opt to cut the cord and use internet streaming, an antenna can provide good quality of 1080p or even 4K, which makes it a worthy contender even in the modern times.

And if you’re here getting an HDTV antenna, you might also want to get a big screen LED TV or even a kitchen and bathroom one to enjoy your favourite shows in high quality anywhere in your home.

What Features to Compare

Type and Modification should be considered first when choosing the best TV antenna. You can consider an indoor and outdoor digital antenna. An indoor TV antenna is installed inside the building. Reception on the indoor antenna is possible only where the TV signal is strong enough - such places are called reliable reception areas. In fact, such areas are not too many. There aren't very many chances to get a high-quality "picture" in the village, in the country and other areas far from the broadcasting tower. Outdoor antennas can be used in most areas, including country houses and cottages. Installing an outdoor antenna requires significant effort and some experience, but sometimes it can provide a better quality of reception. This implies the next parameter to consider when choosing the digital antenna, the range of signal reception. To choose the best digital antenna to fit your needs, you'll need to know the distance at which you are located from the broadcast tower. Some digital antennas can receive the signal at a distance of about 50 miles, which makes them simply irreplaceable for those who live far from the tower from which the signal is broadcasted.

Technical Specifications of a digital antenna should also be considered. One of the most important technical characteristics to pay attention to is the amplification of the antenna, also called antenna gain. It is measured in decibels (dB). The amplifier filters cell and FM signals and suppresses RF noise, providing better, high-quality reception of a broadcasted signal. The higher the value is, the better is the ability of the antenna to amplify the TV signal. Higher gain, however, is not enough for getting a better image. The digital antenna should also be installed in a proper location. The best digital antenna receives a free broadcasting of TV signals with high-definition images (such as ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS or Fox) and supports 1080p HD signals. It is also necessary to take into account the possibility of receiving the most common frequencies, such as FM, HDTV, VHF and UHF broadcasting. A very important parameter is the frequency response itself, as this directly affects the number of received channels. It's important to remember that for every frequency there is its own range of values.

Connection and Installation are another important parameters to consider. Incorrect installation of the digital antenna reduces the number of channels you can receive and also leads to the deterioration of the video quality. Then, the installed antenna should be connected to the TV. This is done by using a coaxial cable, which comes with most digital antennas. It is necessary to pay attention to the length of the cable TV antenna has. If the antenna is sold without any cable, or the cable isn't long enough, please consider buying the right one. TV antenna cables usually have wave impedance of 75 ohms. As a rule, this number is indicated on the product itself. It is also important to consider the antenna power supply (for models with amplifier), the antennas can be powered directly from the TV or from the network. Also, when installing the antenna, take account of its size and weight. If the digital antenna is too bulky, it might be inconvenient to put on the window or on the TV, and it may slightly spoil the interior of your home.
