Trespass Crankster

Maximum Ventilation

Looking for the lightest helmet to use for hot adventures? If so, you may really like the Trespass Crankster bicycle helmet. Made with the all-round ventilation system, it easily allows air through its naturally open design. So, even during warmer weather, you'll feel ultimately comfortable using this. That said, in colder months, the helmet may be a bit drafty but if you wear a balaclava underneath, you'll feel much warmer and comfy.

The Trespass bike helmet has an EPS foam interior covered by a PVC exterior shell. This simple padding will fit very comfortably on your head (wraps snugly top and temples). The chin strap is also quite soft on the skin and causes no rubbing or chafing. Also, the hat is fitted with a visor that can be easily removed to suit your taste or riding conditions.

Overall, the helmet is so lightweight that you can almost forget you are wearing it. This may surely spark some doubt over its ability to withstand serious shocks but, in reality, the helmet is very robust and meets all European safety standards. It reliably protects you from falls, jolts, and other accidents.

With lots of sizing options and very lightweight construction, this bike helmet is great for any rider, any season of the year. It provides a decent level of protection and looks ultra-stylish.

Lixada Protective

For Outdoor Enthusiasts

The Lixada bike helmet is a versatile model suitable for much more than mountain touring. It's a perfect option for cycling, scootering, roller skating, horseback riding, boating, and other outdoor activities where extra protection is needed. It comes in multiple colours to be well-visible under different conditions. For example, Blue+Yellow design is easier for motorists to spot, while a cross between fluorescent Orange/Red/Pink is bright enough for boaters or mountain adventurers. If your kayak tips over or you go missing when out mountain biking, you'll be found easily.

Despite the wide range of colours, the helmet is available in one size only. Designed with a one-hand fit adjustment dial, it's suitable for any head circumference from 55 to 60 cm. The 3D tightening system provides good adhesion, while generous interior padding effectively absorbs shocks and extra sweat. The interior EPS liner is removable and easy to clean. Moreover, this type of lining boasts anti-bacterial properties and is highly resistant to the formation of unpleasant odours.

The helmet comes with a visor that is not a cheap clip-on peak that can easily snap off but a reliable thing secured with two metal side screws. It's able to protect your eyes from rain, mud, sun, and tree branches, while a rear part of the helmet will do a very good job of protecting your head in the event of falling back off the bike. So, if you need a reliable all-round protection, the Lixada helmet will get you covered. A perfect choice for outdoor enthusiasts.

Giro Fixture

By Famous Manufacturer

Giro needs no presentation. It's a famous US manufacturer that specialises solely in protective gear for cycling, skiing and snowboarding. All of its products are very high-quality and reasonably priced, and this helmet is a bright example. The Giro Fixture is well-made, lightweight, and comfy. Though it doesn't utilise the MIPS technology like its big brother, it's still reliable enough to protect you in the event of serious collisions.

To begin with, we would like to stress that the model features the UniversalFit™ sizing, meaning it fits most heads with the circumference of 54-61 cm and it's really comfortable to wear thanks to the patented Roc Lock sport fit and stabilising system used. The Roc Loc mechanism hugs the back of your head and minimises the chances of the helmet shifting forwards or backwards. That is to say, it provides adjustable tension that is independent of the helmet straps, meaning there is no need to over-tighten the chinstraps to get a snug, secure fit. The chinstraps, in their turn, fasten via a ratchet clasp, which is very easy to lock and adjust.

Inside, the helmet has a thick EPS liner that, unfortunately, may lose some volume over time. So, if you're going to use the helmet heavily, be ready to replace the padding after a couple of years. Apart from that, you'll find no flaws with the Giro Fixture. Whether your passion takes you out on the road or to the mountains, it's ready to share any adventure with you.

Exclusky Lightweight

Even the Sun Isn't an Issue

The Exclusky Adult Mountain Bike Helmet is about as inexpensive as MTB helmets get without sacrificing safety and security. With multi-density EPS foam inside, the helmet will be effectively absorbing impact energy and reducing serious injury chances, while the extended rear-shaped construction will be protecting even the head's cranial part. On the other side, you have the fully adjustable visor that you can move upward when necessary to secure the broadest sight and reverse the movement when the sun gets too obstructive.

Besides the visor, you have the standard chip strap but also this single-hand dial retention system in the back, which are important since most injuries occur when the helmet is too small or too large. The chin strap does not last though but, considering the helmet's affordable price, you can replace the strap and still pay much less than you'd pay for most helmets with comparable specs.

Last but not least, the model's armed with 18 vents that promote great circulation. These vents are insect-proof, not only preventing most bugs but also some elements from getting inside.

To sum up, without paying through the nose, the Exclusky Adult Mountain Bike Helmet will let you explore the roughest, most rugged mountain trails with style and confidence.

Lixada 25 Vents Adjustable

Comfortable and Secure

Durable, breathable, comfortable, stylish, and affordable! The Lixada Cycle Helmet deftly combines that all. Made from polycarbonate shell and EPS material, it's quite sturdy to absorb most of the shocks and effectively reduce both low- and high-speed impacts of external forces. Wearing it, you can be sure that most of the falls won't lead to serious head issues. Plus, besides reducing impact, the said padding will diminish the odour buildup and increase moisture-wicking properties.

With that, the helmet is super lightweight and can significantly reduce the restraint on your head compared to most other models out there. So, if you often travel long distances, the helmet won't be too obtrusive and will add to a happy cycling experience. Even better, it has 25 generously-sized vents that do a great job of bringing cool air in and flushing warm air out.

As for the sizing, the helmet provides optimised fit for those individuals with 56-62cm head circumference. Though, the choice is much wider when it comes to colour options. The helmet is available in 6 vivid designs. Each of them comes with a removable visor of matching colour that can be adjusted to two positions.

All things considered, the Lixada Cycle Helmet is able to stand up to serious downhill mountain biking and surely deserves its place in our review. With the comfortable, secure, and well-ventilated design, it's among the best MTB helmets you can find.

What Is a Mountain Bike Helmet?

Mountain biking is where it's at, where memories are made and where you can see the difference between people who are all talk and those who are willing to take the risk and challenge the mountains. Even the most skilled riders are not invincible though, so some protection means are necessary. As much as we prescribe elbow and knee pads, even the biggest injuries towards joints are negligible compared to injuries to the head.

With that in mind, a mountain bike helmet is the first item you ought to (nay, must) take to the mountains with the bicycle. The best helmets will make sure that even the most epic face plants will not lead to significant fractures/wounds/complications. These trail helmets are designed to absorb shock and minimise impact damage so that you can explore the most rugged terrains without holding back.

More often than not, MTB helmets come equipped with vents to make wearing them during the hottest months bearable, with visors to prevent the sun from stopping you, and with various adjustment mechanisms to make the fit optimised.

The helmets we have added to this list are good enough to even support hardtail mountain bikes. You may also want to consider mountain bike shoes for safer rides.
