What customers say about "Key Specs"
Nikon AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D IF-ED
  • I have 2 of these D series 80-200mm and I love the sharpness! Excellent Lens.
  • The fast 2.8 aperture is great to have, and there's a reason why the range is what it is - it's great for sports, if perhaps a bit too long for comfortable portraits.
  • The wide aperture is also great for minimizing depth of field, very useful if you shoot through wire at the zoo and for isolating objects against a busy background.
  • Well, this certainly lives up the hype. Sharp, fast, and well built. So glad I bought it.
  • This lens was way out of focus at 200mm f/2.8 and the optical stabilization seemed to make no difference. I immediately returned this and ordered the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR lens.
Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED
  • My personal favorite focal length is 35mm, but this lens just creates some really interesting shots if you know how to compose well.
  • Since I mostly shoot Landscape photography and always use a tripod this lens is perfect for the focal length.
  • I wanted to get a fast telephoto lens that could give me good results with low light, and this lens did not disappoint.
  • The photos are very sharp at any focal length, and is perfect for indoor sports.
  • It is fast and accurate focusing with sharp images at all focal lengths.

What customers say about "Size & Weight"
Nikon AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D IF-ED
  • Light weight for this type of lens with this type of build quality. Excellent for bird and wildlife photographers who are on a budget but still want a lens that can produce great images.
  • The size is big but it does its job so I am pleased with this choice. Size and weight suit me.
  • Comparatively lighter in weight though mostly metal. Smaller in size, internal zoom helps to keep the lenght as is.
  • The first disadvantage is the size and weight. It is huge and weighs around 1.5kg.
  • It takes up a lot of room in your camera bag. If I chose to take this lens along I basically have to leave two or three other lenses behind.
  • The weight means my bag is heavier than if I took those three other lenses instead and also that it is difficult - if not impossible - to hand hold.
Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED
  • It is heavy but it is so well made I just never worry about anything but dropping it.
  • Just an incredible heavy lens. I love the weight of it, the AF is much faster than I expected. I'm in love.
  • If you are not use to big lens, when you first get this prepare to be a little intimidated by the size and weight. But its ok, i am happy.
  • The only thing that surprised me was its weight. It is very heavy and I needed to take short breaks between the shootings.
  • The only drawback is the weight. It is quite heavy, but also quite durable.

What customers say about "Imaging"
Nikon AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D IF-ED
  • The zoom ring is perfect, the manual focus is precise. I am used to the M-A ring shared by the 135mm F2.0 from the same era.
  • The internal focus and zoom improves the handling. The tripod mount is a welcome addition.
  • I have bought this lens about a year ago and I am extremely happy with it. Very fast focus, at least when compared to the Nikon 55-200MM F/4-5.6 AF-S VR DX.
  • Lack of VR. Vibration Reduction is one of those thing that once you've had it you can't live without it and it would certainly be useful on this lens.
  • It is so unweildy and of a focal length that means you are in a constant fight against camera shake robbing the sharpness you paid out for.
Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED
  • Sharp enough image for me, f2.8 all the way up and 80mm to 200mm.
  • First off I’m extremely happy with the condition of the lens. The quality of the images seem as good as I could ask for.
  • Great lens. If you have a camera that can autofocus with this lens (i.e. upper end Nikons) and don't care about VR, this lens is a fantastic.
  • Produces stunning images on both my D7000 and F100. The Bokeh at 2.8 is beyond creamy.
  • The lens is perfect. I have the ability to create images with a professional look.

What customers say about "Features"
Nikon AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D IF-ED
  • A lot of research and determined this was the best fit for my budget compatibility with my D7100 camera.
  • The lens has a solid metal construction and can withstand little bumps here and there. Great alternative to a brand new 70-200mm f/2.8 for less than half the cost.
  • All metal construction adds to the weight, but makes this lens sturdier than a brick outhouse!
  • Operates in manual and autofocus modes. The performance is really nice: quick auto focus and really sharp at all zoom settings.
  • The front element too large for common filters. It has a 77mm common thread so finding filters is cheap and easy will not work.
Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED
  • Love this lens. Good, solid build. Feels comfortable in hand and on tripod.
  • The build quality has to be mentioned as I don't imagine a better built lens ever being made.
  • Crystal clear images. Large aperture is also a handy thing. The build seems as solid as anyone would need.
  • Bit heavy, the manual/auto focus switch is easily knocked as its in a bad place.
  • Be very careful in installing said filter. The threads on the lens are plastic and more subject to cross-threading than metal ones.
