Anyplace You Want

A few things make the Klarstein ACO4-HeatPal-Mica15 (impeccable name mates, honestly) such a popular heater of choice. First things first, it is both a freestanding and a hanging model, already making this unit a whole lot more versatile than most of its peers. All of the mounting equipment is included in the package and it doesn't take a lot of effort to set it up. Second, the heater complies with the IP24 protection class, so you can also put it in the bathroom.

Other than that, what we have here is your everyday quality micathermic heater, give or take. The stepless temperature regulator is really convenient but the but its couple of heat settings don't present anything out of the ordinary. Just like most models equipped with the mica heatwave technology, the Klarstein ACO4-HeatPal-Mica15 isn't just effective but also quiet.

Aside from its versatility, this heater stands out when it comes to the convenience of transportation. Its mountable feet give you a fixed stance. But the ground rollers allow you to effortlessly move it around. Finally, the unit includes an always welcome cable rewind feature with space in the back for the said cable. About the only issue we have with it is the white housing that gets easily soiled.

In short, the Klarstein ACO4-HeatPal-Mica15 is easily the best micathermic heater in its price range. You can put it anywhere you want. It'll make a good addition to your living room or bathroom. Plus, the model is particularly portable and easy to move around.

Consistent Heat Blanket

The Duronic HV101 means business. Consuming 2500 watts, this is not the unit you buy when you need to keep a small room warm. No, this is the appliance you buy when an entire flat requires assistance. Its output is tremendous, no doubt about that, but while this is the most impressive or maybe even the most important part, this is not the part that we find especially interesting.

The anti-frost function, however, is pretty interesting. Select the snowflake setting on the thermostat dial and the unit will prevent the room from reaching a freeze point. The thermostat that you can adjust between 18 and 36 degrees Celcius is alright as well, letting you make the space a little chilly or plenty hot when that's something you want.

We also like the mica panels. First, they're naturally insulating, preventing electric shocks as well as electrical fires. Second, covering the heating element with a protective mesh, the unit remains cool to the touch and prevents burning accidents. We don't quite like the chemical/burnt smell that the model produces initially but the smell usually goes away within the first few runs.

Even without mentioning the appliance's silent operation (since there are no moving parts), the neat cable management system, and the attractive appearance, the Duronic HV101 is not the purchase that you will regret.

Adjust the Temperature

The Allied UK Laptronix Mica Convector Heater is much more modern and feature-rich than these heaters usually are. The touch buttons and the LED screen make the unit's features/mechanisms accessible.

You can adjust the temperature anywhere between 15 and 50 degrees, so you can keep the space as chilly and scorching hot as you want. The screen's also backlit, meaning you'll be able to comfortably access the settings even in low-light conditions.

The 24-hour timer is something that many micathermic heaters come without, which is a shame since these are great. You can make sure the space is as warm as you want when you come home from work without wasting unnecessary nature. You can also let the automatic temperature control feature maintain the temperature so you won't have to fiddle with the settings.

From the practicality standpoint, the unit is good but not great because its 7.5-kilogram weight is pretty high as far as these heaters are concerned. Also, you don't have any handles here. You do, however, have these nice little wheels that will let you move the unit between the rooms.

Bottom line, the Allied UK Laptronix Mica Convector Heater is as good as any micathermic heater we've reviewed. The appliance has more features, setting, and different mechanisms than most units within this price range.

Brilliant Value

The AMOS Micathermic Heater is as affordable yet productive as these heaters come. Sure, there are not too many settings here, which is understandable considering the price. The booklet that comes supplied with the unit is somewhat confusing too.

At the same time, measuring 66 x 63 x 26 centimetres is quite compact, so you won't have to sacrifice too much space. Also, the unit weighs precisely 4.65 kilograms, much more lightweight than these appliances usually are. In other words, you'll have no issues moving this heater between rooms.

There are four castor wheels that will help you do that. There are also two handles that you can use to carry the unit since its lightweight build more than allows that.

The two stand feet will let you comfortably position the appliance anywhere you want without worrying about tipping the unit. Nevertheless, the model still incorporates an over-tip switch, so you won't have to worry about safety concerns.

The unit incorporates two heat settings. The 1200-watt setting will be enough for most rooms, whilst the 2000-watt setting will be able to keep sizable spaces (~25-30 m³) warm.

Add to that the accessible digital control panel, the LED screen, and the remote control that will let you change the setting remotely and you have an excellent micathermic heater for the price.

Back to Black

The Warmlite WL43009 is a simple, balanced product and that's where its strength lies. It doesn't include any unnecessary features but just about every part of it has been refined to a tee. Power-wise, the model gives you 2 heat settings.

The first, 1000W one will be more than enough to heat up a sizable room. The second, 1500W setting, on the other hand, will allow you to keep an entire office (albeit a relatively small one) warm.

That power may very well come in handy because, with its slim, black flat panel, the unit doesn't just make for a nice addition to your home but would also prove a good fit for smaller commercial spaces like conservatories, food establishments, or the aforementioned offices.

Naturally, you don't want to buy a multitude of heaters but freezing to death in one of the rooms isn't an option either. Fortunately, the unit boasts built-in easy-glide castor wheels, so you'll be able to easily manoeuvre the heater around the area.

Not one of those functions we haven't seen before but we appreciate that the manufacturers didn't forget to include the overheat protection and a tip-over switch. After all, you can never feel too safe when using a radiator and these little features provide a nice peace of mind.

All in all, the Warmlite WL43009 is a great micathermic heater for everyday use in smaller to medium spaces. It quickly and efficiently heats up just about any area, so you can put it in your bedroom, bring it to a workshop, place it in a garage, or buy one for the office.

What Is a Micathermic Heater?

If you’ve ever felt a bit too cold in your home, you’ve likely resorted to using space heaters to get a much-needed warmth boost. However, many models are kind of bulky and will take up a spot too large for your comfort. Besides, you don’t want the appliance to take an hour before any effect is felt. So, instead of relying on the old tech, you can turn to an affordable and effective micathermic heater. This type of device uses a mica stone to emanate electromagnetic rays of warmth all around the room. That way you get both convection and reflective heat, which effectively speeds up the device’s operation and warms the whole room faster.

But faster effect isn’t the only thing that draws people to the mica heaters. They are also quite slim as they don’t have to make room for many technical parts, exchanging them for a thin layer of mica instead. This leaves the heaters practically flat and easy to store when not in use. Plus, they can still be wall-mounted for even more convenient placement.

With that said, winter is coming fast and if you want to stay cosy, you should also consider getting a few throw blankets to snuggle up in. Or, perhaps, an ethanol fireplace will add warmth and a certain rustic charm as well.
