Delivering about 1250 water pulses per minute, the model doesn't leave tartar a chance. It removes plaque as well as any other water flosser. The instrument extracts and clears away all of the debris stuck around your teeth and the gumline. A tip storage case will help you keep things neat and organised.

CONS

The power button is really sensitive, so there's a good chance you will occasionally press it on accident.

OUR VERDICT

One could make an argument that Waterpik WP-563UK stands head and shoulders above any similar product in its price range. At the very least, it is certainly one of the better flossers for people whose gums and teeth aren't particularly sensitive. It isn't the most sparing instrument but it will improve your oral health like no other device.

OUR VERDICT

What we have here is a water flosser that doesn't just keep your gums and teeth in a healthy condition but also maintains and preserves your braces. It's a great option for experienced flossers and not a bad instrument for those who don't have that much experience with these devices.

Obliterates Tartar and Plaque

The Waterpik WP-563UK relies on its outstanding performance and sheer power to improve your oral health. The biggest selling point of this product is easily its highest pressure mode.

Delivering about 1250 water pulses per minute, the model doesn't leave tartar a chance. It removes plaque as well as any other water flosser. The instrument extracts and clears away all of the debris stuck around your teeth and the gumline. Its power allows the device to rid your mouth of bacteria and food particles better than just about any other model.

But, of course, if you have sensitive gums and you simply cannot afford to utilise the highest pressure mode, the model has you covered with soft and pulse modes.

As it is always the case with these flossers, the soft mode will allow you to improve your oral hygiene without putting too much of a stress on your teeth and gums. And the pulse mode can be used to massage the latter. By stimulating gum tissue, the instrument in question provides an extra layer of health benefits that you simply wouldn't get from any other oral care device.

It doesn't necessarily concern the powerful performance of this flosser directly but one downside of this product is that the power button is a tad too sensitive. It's not the end of the world but there's a good chance you will accidentally turn off the device from time to time, a mildly annoying issue that will hopefully be resolved in the next iteration of this model.

Keep It Organised

Since the instrument is also being advertised as a water flosser for braces, the plaque seeker and the orthodontic tips that come with it are an always welcome addition to the overall package. The latter makes it a hell of a lot easier to clean around the braces, while the former is just noticeably better than the classic jet tip at removing plaque from braces and other types of dental implants.

Speaking of the overall package, the manufacturers supply the flosser with a tip storage case, in addition to the usual carry bag. It's a really convenient extra accessory as it will help you keep your tips organised and away from bacteria and dust.

Aside from that, we also liked the sleek charger. Using the rapid inductive charging technology, it magnetically connects to the unit and takes no more than 4 hours to get the battery back to 100%.

In short, you could definitely make an argument that the Waterpik WP-563UK is the best water flosser for braces. At the very least, it is certainly one of the better flossers for people whose gums and teeth aren't particularly sensitive. It isn't the most sparing instrument but it will improve your oral health like no other device.

A Perfect Smile

There's nothing like two sets of perfect teeth. Those of us who don't have them want them and those who do usually try to keep pretty good care of them. And while the model from Aniker could certainly satisfy the latter crowd, it is the former type of people who will benefit from this device the most.

One of the best things about this instrument is definitely the number of tips that come with it. In addition to the flosser itself, you'll get 3 classic jet tips, a plaque seeker tip, and an orthodontic tip. There's a lot that the classic jet tip can do for you. But it is the latter two accessories that will allow you to keep your mouth clean and healthy, despite the braces, implants, crowns, bridges, or any other type of dental work that you're forced to live with on your quest for a perfect smile.

Of course, it isn't just the tips but also the flossing settings that help you improve your overall oral hygiene. On the surface level, the model has your usual arrangement of settings that consists of a soft, normal, and pulse modes.

The normal provides that standard full and deep clean between your teeth. The soft one that works at about 40 psi is as gentle as the next soft mode, so it should be able to remove the plaque around your braces without putting any kind of stress on your sensitive gums.

But the pulse mode is where the flosser slightly but noticeable differs from most of its peers. It features a much wider range of pressure compared to similar models. Ranging between 40 and 100 psi, it does a great job of cleaning and massaging your gums, keeping them nice and healthy.

Three Weeks on a Single Charge

As far as the construction is concerned, there isn't that much that the manufacturers did differently here. But it was a smart move to add a fully open design to their water tank. This way, it is much easier to clean the dirt that inevitably builds up around the water inlet.

In terms of capacity, this is your usual water tank that will hold about 200 millilitres of water. It is easy to fill it and it doesn't take a whole lot of time either. Of course, you should remember to use warm water if your teeth are on the sensitive side.

Some people might think it is a bit unnecessary and more of an overkill but we couldn't conclude the review without mentioning the 1400 MAh lithium battery of this portable cleaner. It takes the same 4 hours to recharge as your typical water flosser battery but it can last for up to 3 weeks, pretty impressive if we do say so ourselves.

Again, on your quest for a perfect smile, we cannot stress enough how important it is to keep your dental appliances clean and your gums well-stimulated. Fortunately, it shouldn't be too difficult of a task with this water flosser for braces from Apiker, with its large set of tips and well-designed flossing settings.

Travel Companion

Every water flosser in our review falls under the portable category. That said, this Morpilot model still manages to stand out in that regard. It's just a far more convenient device than the majority of similar options and there's a lot that contributes to that convenience.

First things first, the model comes equipped with a UK plug adaptor, so you won't have any issues charging the instrument anywhere around the mainland and the majority of its surrounding isles. But it is a portable device after all, so you won't have an access to the right type of socket.

Fortunately, the model has you covered on that front either. In addition to the usual AC plug adaptor, you also get a USB charging cable, so you can plug the flosser into your laptop, a power bank, or an array of different electronics and charged it from them.

Another part of the package is a travel bag, a nice little container that will help you transport the flosser and keep it safe on the road.

The model does not trail behind when it comes to the battery life. Charge it via USB or the old way, you'll still get up to 2 weeks of everyday use from that single charge. It weighs less than a pound and a small frame allows the flosser to fit nicely in your hand, turning the mundane morning routine into something a bit less tiresome and annoying.

Simple Maintenance

There isn't much to cover here on the performance front. You get the usual 3 flossing modes. The soft one will be great for some of the more sensitive gums, the normal one will provide a more thorough clean, and the pulse mode will stimulate your gums by massaging them with a nice pulsing stream. Some customers remark that the normal mode feels a tad underwhelming compared to similar models but we can't say if you personally is going to notice much of a difference.

One thing that is definitely worth some attention is the fully-open design of the water tank. It may not sound like much but, with it, it is noticeably easier to clean the limescale and bacteria that settles inside the tank. Plus, you can fill it two different ways. You can take the whole thing off and pour the way the usual way. Or, you can remove the protective side cap and fill the tank without removing it from the flosser.

To sum it up, the Morpilot water flosser for braces will prove to be a great travel companion. It is much more convenient than the majority of similar flossers and a bit more practical than most of its competition. Plus, the water tank is large enough to ensure almost a minute of continuous oral hygiene.

Bit More Careful With the Braces

There isn't a whole lot of wiggle room with water flossers, which is why there isn't that much of a difference between different flossers. But there are a few things you can improve upon and the people behind this Guisee water flosser did a pretty good job of that.

Above anything else, we like the selection of tips that come with the model. Sure, you don't get an orthodontic tip or a plaque seeker one and that's a bit of a letdown. But, in addition to the classic jet tips, you also get a couple of silicone tips.

These tips are more gentle and surprisingly more effective when it comes to braces maintenance. They ensure a thorough clean without damaging even the most fragile and delicate silicone dental appliances.

Unfortunately, that fragile and delicate sentiment extends to the water tank cap as it is a bit flimsy. But we could hardly call it a real issue. Just be careful with it. Worst-case scenario, you'll have to order a separate one for about a quid and a half, hardly a huge blow to your family budget.

The portable and rechargeable design of the water flosser will allow you to use the device anywhere around the world, especially considering the flexible 100-240V power supply.

As it is often the case, you'll need a UK plug adaptor to use it in, well, UK. But you probably already have a few of those. And if you don't, the model also comes with a USB charging cable, so anything from a laptop to a power bank will be able to substitute a power socket.

The Pressure to Beat

Aside from the tips and the USB cable, there are still a couple of small details that make this water flosser for braces a slightly better option than most of its peers. For instance, there's the anti-skidding design of the base that keeps the device in place on an often slippery bathroom countertop surface.

There's also the 360-degree rotating nozzle. A decent percentage of the cheaper models do not incorporate this feature and it is a real shame since it allows the tip to reach every corner of the mouth, including those places that the traditional brush simply cannot reach.

Of course, the device features the usual array of modes designed for different flossing purposes. But we would like to highlight the normal mode as it delivers 120 psi of pressure, a bit more than your typical flosser. It might prove to be a bit too much for inexperienced people but a real find for those who have been using this kind of flossers for years.

All in all, what we have here is a water flosser that doesn't just keep your gums and teeth in a healthy condition but also maintains and preserves your braces. It's a great option for experienced flossers and not a bad instrument for those who don't have that much experience with these devices.

A Flossing Juggernaut

The previous iteration of this model from Hangsun was a decent water flosser but it didn't have that much going for it to stand out from the crowd. Fortunately, we can't say that the same is the case with the HOC400P. There is a lot to like about this instrument but let's start with performance.

Capable of delivering 1600 pulses a minute, what we have here is easily one of the most powerful options on the market today. Just like any other water flossers, it relies on a combination of pulsations and water pressure to clean deep between the teeth and below the gumline. But featuring a lot more power than the majority of its competition, the model does a far better job of removing plaque, destroying tartar buildup, and extracting debris.

Of course, that's the power you will get from a normal mode, a power required for removing food particles and some of the more difficult tasks. If you don't have a whole lot of experience with powerful water flossers or your gums are just particularly sensitive, you can always opt for the standard soft mode.

Though regardless of your experience, we definitely recommend occasionally running the pulse mode as it rinses your oral cavities and massages the gums.

A Silent Flosser

Performance is paramount, there's no doubt about that. But the manufacturers didn't stop there and made sure to improve their product on other fronts too. One thing we liked in particular is the charging stand. More precisely, a non-contact charging stand. The non-contact part makes the stand safe since it prevents any potential damage from liquid sources. It is easy to clean and really practical, especially since it also features a nozzle stand for the jet tips.

Sure, despite a number of solid improvements, the model still has its flaws. But we would say that they are fairly negligible. For instance, the 150-millilitre capacity of the water tank is a tad limited compared to a decent chunk of similar water flossers but that is the difference between 40-45 seconds and 50 seconds of continuous flossing, hardly something to complain about. That water tank is really easy to fill, so we have no complaints in that department.

While the flaws are negligible, we can't say the same about some of the model's advantages. We've already talked about most of them but we would be remiss not to mention the quiet operation of this instrument. Mostly thanks to the new and improved water pumper, the noise levels do not reach the 55 dB mark, making it one of the more silent flossers out there.

To rephrase our earlier point, the Hangsun HOC400P water flosser for braces have made a lot of improvements upon the previous iteration of this instrument. It is really impressive performance-wise, the extra accessories make the whole thing a lot more practical, and it should be able to serve you for a long time.

What Is a Water Flosser for Braces?

Those who wear dental braces and other orthodontic appliances know firsthand that due dental and orthodontic care is crucial for minimizing and/or preventing oral health problems. Flossing is an essential part of a regular dental routine. Yet, if you have brackets, wires or other hardware in your mouth, flossing every single day can be quite a challenge. A water flosser will make flossing with braces times quicker and easier. A pressurized water jet created by the water flosser will get where your toothbrush cannot reach.

However, water flossing only complements tooth brushing and in no way substitutes it. Hence, to combat bacteria and built-in plaque even more effectively, make sure to add an electric toothbrush to your dental care arsenal as well.

Best Water Flossers for Braces 2017

What Features to Compare

Type

More of a convenience matter than anything else, the majority of water flossers for bracers fall under two categories - portable and stationary. The differences between these two are obvious, so we won't be focusing too much on this subject.

Settings

This is an important part of any flosser. The number of settings will determine the number of different flossing options you will have at your disposal. Generally speaking, your average flosser has 3 different settings. There's the soft mode that gently, carefully, but thoroughly removes plaque around the braces. The mode is particularly suitable for people with sensitive gums. Then, there's the pulse mode. This mode can be used to massage your gums and to clean the leftovers from the soft and normal modes. And that leads us to the normal mode, of course. The latter provides a deep clean between and around the teeth. In most models, it is the most powerful mode but some do have an additional mode or two that features extra power or some sort of a different setting.

Tips

Tips are just as important as the settings as they also determine the number of flossing options and extend the range of the instrument's capabilities. Your average flosser comes with a classic jet tip, an accessory that is used for general, everyday use. Most include the so-called plaque seeker tip, a tip that is perfect for dental implants like braces (or any other types of dental work). Some of the more expensive models often come with an orthodontic tip. A tip like that is used for cleaning around the braces.

Water Tank Capacity

The capacity of the water tank is definitely something you should keep in mind when you go looking for a flosser. That said, there really isn't that much of a difference between different models as far as that capacity is concerned. The more you have, the better it is as you won't have to refill the tank quite as often but that difference is seldom important enough to affect the decision-making process.

Extra Features

Every water flosser for bracers incorporates some kind of an extra feature. Some of these features are popular than others. For example, the absolute majority of flossers incorporate a waterproof construction. A lot of customers like a tank with a fully open design as it makes it easier to clean the accumulated dirt from the inlet. Some models feature 360-degree tip rotation, a design solution that makes the flosser more effective in terms of reach.

Advantages and Importance of Water Flossing

The importance that is hard to overestimate

So much has been said on the subject of oral hygiene and how important it is that we will inevitably sound like a broken record bringing it up. But that is the thing about these simple and seemingly obvious messages. While they may be easier to understand, they also tend to be the ones that are first forgotten. Besides, a lot has been said about flossing in general but there isn't that much information available on the subject of water flossing and all of the advantages it has over regular string flossing. So, with that out of the way, let's get started, shall we?

No inflammation

Unless you have really sensitive gums and you choose to go overboard with a normal setting, a water flosser will not leave you with swollen and inflamed gums. With the usual string, on the other hand, it is easy to apply a bit too much pressure and end up with an uncomfortable and often painful sensation in your mouth.

You're more likely to floss

This one is fairly straightforward and derives from the former point. Since water flossing is much easier and a lot less unpleasant compared to its orthodox counterpart, your brain will not be associating flossing with that uncomfortable and distressing experience that we've described earlier. So there's a far better chance you will build healthy oral habits and make flossing a part of your daily routine.

A lot better with dental appliances

You could argue that traditional string flossing has its advantages over water flossing when it comes to keeping your teeth clean and your gums healthy. But you cannot say the same thing about crowns, bridges, veneers, implants, or any other type of dental work. Water flossing as a method has been proven to be two times more effective at cleaning and maintaining implants than its string counterpart. On top of that, a lot of water flossers come supplied with a plaque seeker tip, an accessory that makes the said implant maintenance noticeably easier. Sure, a water flosser costs quite a bit more than a string, but it will allow you to save a decent sum of money in the long run by reducing the need for expensive dental work.

Water flosser for braces

Despite the marketing term, a water flosser for braces isn't really a thing. It isn't a thing because every water flosser is great with braces. The idea behind it is quite simple. Since there's no need to thread a tiny piece of string floss through wire after the wire, using a water flosser instead is a more sensible idea isn't just from a difficulty standpoint but also from the effectiveness point of view.

Sooner or later, you will be finally given the green light to take your braces off. And when that glorious day finally arrives for you, you will be experiencing much less discomfort or inflammation as your gums and teeth will be more used to the proper flossing practice, as long as you've been relying on a water flosser. On top of that, a decent percentage of these water flossers come with an orthodontic tip. This little nozzle was specifically designed for cleaning around the brackets, making it easier to take care of your gums and teeth while wearing brackets.
